your family is Hanbali? you might be just assuming, Somalis are Shafi'i
Am not assuming my dad has always said that we are ahl al sunnah. His views are clearly salafi in nature he’s from Yemen so that’s the context in which his religious perspective was shaped. On the other hand my mother is from Somalia and her background is different but she ultimately shared his same views

Salafi is not a madhab, I consider myself a Salafi and Shafi'i, did your Somali dad actually say I am Hanbali is what I am asking

Islam is easy and is for your benefit, believe and establish the prayer a few minutes 5 times a day and three of them are at low movement times , give zakat (it can go to extended family and it’s only 2.5percent of assets you held all year), fast during Ramadan, and hajj if you’re able to

do these and you’ll succeed inshallah
I'm already making alot of money in my age bracket. And I am pretty happy and enjoying life anyway all without the help of man made religions.

Have fun for a while.

"Surely Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell." (4:140)

“…And whoever disbelieves — I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination.” (2:126)

Its an obligation for us believers to remind you ex-muslims whenever we have the chance. Especially if you are somali.

We all have faults and sin. Our religion is mercy and guidance from our Creator and without we will be heedless.

Wallahi you guys will find peace when you trust and oney Allah SWT. I pray you guys come back to Him, you guys are doing yourself a disservice.
We all have ups and downs, just don’t let this phase be permanent.

You guys are not the first apostates on the forum, do you guys know what happened to the previous ones? They reverted back and stayed on the correct path. There is a lesson here.

Salafism/Wahhabism, which is nothing more than Saudi culture garbed in Islamic clothing, is unsustainable for any Muslim who wants to live a balanced life and engage in mainstream society. It combines between a simplistic bedoun ideology and extreme fanaticism. When the adherents burnout they become hardcore atheists.

There is nothing better than being a moderate Muslim. Any other Sunni theological school is better than Salafism. Whether it is Ash'arism or Maturidism which are more intelectually inclined, more open minded and less fanatical. Heck even Mu'talism is better than Salafism.

If you want to reconcile your Islam and at the same time not have to live your life like a soulless fanatical robot, just don't be Salafi/Wahhabi which is dificult because sadly since the civil war this ideology has somewhat uprooted mainstream Somali Islam.

Also for those saying you can't be a non Muslim and Somali at the same time, although I somewhat understand, the same argument can be made by saying you can't be Salafi and Somali at the same time. Salafism/Wahhabism didn't exist amongst Somalis except in very recent history i.e last 50 years. A true Somali in the past was Ash'ari Shafi'i and Sufi. Wahhabism is foreign to Somalis.

Your confusing wahhabism for strict fanatical khawaarij ideologies

I dont like it when people on this website do not understand abdulwahhabs ideologies and teachings. He taught to be against bidah and rejected modern sufism.

he taught to take the Quran literally and to follow the quran in its raw form. Whats the problem in that?

Abd al wahab isnt someone you can look up to, but I think he was right in many of his teachings

The people saying you don’t have to follow Islam to be a Somali, are the same closeted gaals who pretend to fast and pray.

make it make sense? :hemad:

If they're non Somali what does that say about your ancestors beliefs before the creation of Islam?
You're basically saying they weren't Somali.

Those different theological schools that you mention cause people to become doubtful because they are always debating major parts of the religion such as the createdness of the Quraan for example or the problem of evil. These themselves arent necessarily bad things to debate and can help your understanding of the diin and protect from gaalo arguments, however they often end up discussing aspects that serve no purpose to discuss. Like the story of the man querying imam Maalik on the istawaa, they end up discussing aspects that do not befit a human to discuss like this quality of Allaah, it is not for us to know every little gossip about Allaah

A lot of this actually comes from cawaan greek philosophy influence on arab world about what who why why why just inviting the shaydaan to party with his doubts. In europe this ended up in people saying "god is dead and humans killed him" astaqfirullaah. More open minded and intelectually inclined can be mistaken with just skepticism which isnt necessarily a good thing. We follow the prophets because they fufilled the commands of Allaah as close as they could possibly not because they are always asking why why why. Thats what bani israa'iil done

What is mainstream somali islam anyways or islam before salafiyyah. They were split between the traditional qaadiriyya who do cow sacrifice rituals and puritanical saalihiyya which have some newer problems like the dancing for ku sali nebiga Scw. The sayyid himself appreciated those salafi in his hajj

In conclusion people should get actual teachers for diin rather than learning online. They will confuse themself
