No one was saying it was simply skin based. Just that skin is the most readily available identifier.
Look. I'm a relatively dark dude with incredibly straight hair myself. Arguably just as straight as that dude. But my lips, nose, eyes, and muscular structure? Just not that different from other Africans by and large. And white people here obviously see that and once you say you're Somali, it's easier for them to slot you into a race bubble that best fits your situation. And in that instance Black is the winning ticket.
So the terminology obviously doesn't mean shit to people who don't live in NA or UK.
