Arabs and Muslims have always supported us more than Africans

Ethiopia is led by Christians.

Most of African countries are led by Christians.

The decision making are done by Christians.

Know the difference. Don’t lump those miskeen Muslims with them.

The Somali language has many Arabic loan words, and a large portion of the language has borrowed Arabic words. There are a lot of deep-rooted similarities between the Somali and Arabic languages. The Arabs influenced Somali culture and language.

Of course, the leaders of Adal and Ifat spoke Arabic because the ruling elite and establishment primarily consisted of Arabs. Somalis played no role in the establishment of the Adal and Ifat kingdoms. The ruling elite of those two kingdoms primarily consisted of Semetic-speaking groups. Ethio-Semitic speakers and Arabs formed the dominant section of the population. Please stop attributing historical Arab empires to Somalis.

Arab support played an instrumental role in helping the Ifat and Adal sultantes defeat Abyssinia in numerous military encounters. Arab preachers, musketeers, and mercenaries from Hadhramount and Hejaz flocked to Harar in large numbers. They had their greatest influence in Harar, by then an established Islamic center of learning and the only urban diffusion point for Islam in Adal during the medieval period.
Every language borrows Loan words for example 50% of Japanese are just Chinese loan words due to trade. Somalis traded with Arabs and adopted some words that’s it.

No Arabs were in the ruling class of Adal that’s blatantly false all of the rulers were native to horn. The people of the region are described as black and ibn battuta mentions that the Barbar spoke their own language but spoke Arabic as a lingua franca for trade.

No Arabs from Hadramaut or Hijaz came during the campaigns of Ahmed Gurey. There was 1 Yemeni from Al Jawf, 70 Mehris, and 10 Moroccans. Arabs were outstandingly minuscule part of he Imams army. The idea of Arab/Turkish support being important comes from the long discredited works of James Bruce. Harar also wasn’t the only city in Adal. Bequlzar, Abasa, Amud, Zeila, Dakkar, and Maduna all had populations over 1,000.

Stop copy and pasting and derailing the thread with you’re ramblings

The term barbara itself is ambiguous and inconclusive. We don't know for certain who exactly it refers to all the time. The word Barbara is also used to describe a geographical region. On one occasion, it was used to describe a region inhabited by Arabs. The term Barbara is not specific to Somalis. Ethio-Semitic speakers formed the dominant section of the Adal population. The Semitic speaking sedentary groups provided the political and military leadership Adal and Ifat.

What an intellectually dishonest person you are! It was largely an Arab effort that helped Imam Ahmed defeat Abyssinia. A sizeable number of Arabs from Hadramaut and Hejaz settled in Somalia and Ethiopia. The Arabs were largely credited with helping the Imam defeat Abyssinia. I have attached sources below to debunk your outrageous claims.

I am not derailing the thread. The topic is about Arabs and Somalis. I am correcting your distortions of historical accounts and attributing semenetic-speaking kingdoms to Somalis. Stop your historical revisionism.

I know that you deny Somali history and you’re only reason to be here is a troll but denying 21st century history just makes you lose any credibility you had.
I do not deny that Said Barre helped reconcile Tanzania and Uganda. However, Said Barre was solely responsible for the state collapse in Somalia. All of his achievements have been forgotten because of what he did to Somalia.

The Horn of Africa seems to be an indicator of where the continent goes in general it seems. Somalis had created many sultanates by the time other Africans converted and did as any Islamic empire would do (Jihad and “wealth transfer” ) . When Ethiopians gained control it followed a period of plunder, Slavery and Christianity, not dissimilar to what happened to the rest of the continent.

African intellectuals seems to have some obsession with recreating their ancestors systems at this moment, as a means to distance themselves from Europeans and Arabs. Which I can understand for Bantus and others but it’s strange coming from us, victim mentality in the diaspora perhap

I wish I could go back in time and unite the Arabized Somalis to raise an army & conquer all the other Somalis & forcefully Arabize them.

We would be firm in our Arab identity like the ikhwan from Morocco, North Sudan and Egypt etc.
I would have forced Arabization on the people and call our nation The Somali Arab Republic

We're already somewhat half-way there, since Arabic is an Official language and many people can speak it, but the goal is for all to speak Arabic. We just need to go the extra mile by enforcing the Arabic language in the Education system; require businesses & media outlets to use Arabic .
