My friend from Mogadishu is insisting me to buy land in Mogadishu so I can sell it with profit later on, but my concern is one thing. The instability. Who's to say the land I buy will not be stolen by some bandits(mooryaans) or some refugees or gaajos go building ramshacks on my ground. It's very risky.

What do you guys think?

There are a few issues with buying land in Mogadishu

1. Property rights are not respected in the city. At least a third of the residents, if not far more, live in stolen houses. Courts are ineffective and corrupt. What you buy today can be taken over my armed thugs tomorrow. Local dhaqan is ineffective and degraded.

2. Property prices are inflated. Xamar has bad roads, massive security issues, lack of public parks and amenities , not to mention issues with basic sanitation, water, and electricity access. Because of this property should be low value, but prices are distorted because diaspora and wealthy locals use land in xamar to store wealth but that bubble will burst. It's not supported by reality... dont be the fool who buys bubble prices

I (along with my siblings) will inherit two houses in Mogadishu and my dad wants to buy a house elsewhere in the next 5 years if everything goes well.

Its easy to buy and sell land in Somalia. As long as you have a trusted person and you get all of your documents, it is actually a good investment.

If xamar bothers you so much you can buy a land at your region. Buying land near the sea and populated area will be ideal and good investment.

My uncle owned a shop in Hodan , Mogadishu which was looted in the 90’s . The whole city was divided along clan lines but he got his property back in 2009 because he had witnesses and the documentation .

I think Mogadishu and Hargeisa are overrated, I would rather invest my money in other coastal cities like Kismaayo, Marka or Hobyo .

If that land happened to belong to someone prior, then what?

My family owns 100boos in the center of bursalax and around 1000 boos oo badiyaha ah, Also galkacya. 15+ sano ayan ka maqnen base wali dariska ayaa no dhowra.

I would suggest invest in your home region.

Bro your form Bursaalax also?

Land there is cheap as hell, but I don't see any point in investing in it. I hate that red sand!

Goormaakugu dambeys saxib. Since last year, the drive from brslx to galkacyo is 40 minutes once the asphalt is placed, 20 minutes, its essentially a far corner district of galkacyo. Land in the city is about the same as galkacyo. Waa magaalo wifi iyo koronto iyo waxkastaba yaal imika. i adore the red sand, it looks like a carpet over the whole of the city, definitely beats dagaxa galkacyo iyo dhiiqada garowe weyna ka nabad badantahay.

My family is actually trying to sell land in Mogadishu. Parents own 4 pot of land in different areas in Mogadishu and they are actually in xamar right now trying to claim the land and sell it on. But some of the mooriyaans are making it difficult, one even build apartments on one of our land. The process is slow but they got all the right documentation and witnesses.

Waxaan aaday 2018,

My dads entire family lives there. It has grown a lot since I last went in 2003. But I honestly preferred Garowe.

I suppose Bursaalax is coming along nicely, might not be a bad idea to invest in some land, or procure it from family members.

Walle some of you need to comprehend family region is vanzelfsprekend. So you don't have to tell me to invest in my home region.

I'm looking for other delicious pastures especially Mogadishu waayo waa capital and will explode with years to come WA lakin it's risky. Luckily my friend is not a mīdgo there and from one of the most ruthless communities.

Also I'm looking for other countries like Tanzania etc.
