Interesting, I always hear the opposite, how plant based diet has helped them overcome illnesses. I’m honestly not doing this to save the world or care about animals I wish I was that noble, I just want a change and to see how my body will react to it. I’m always tired and feel unhealthy with the amount of red meat we consume as Somalis.The vegan diet is unnatural and unhealthy. Humans are naturally omnivore and is the most suitable diet for to live longer and healthier.
I know this Somali woman who was a vegan for almost 8 months received many deficiencies and became very sick. Once she went back to her original diet. She became normal and healthy again.
Unfortunately, the vegan excludes all animal products that do have some nutritional drawbacks. Rodriguez cites calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B-12 and folate are all of which are present in meat and dairy products as key nutrients a vegan diet can lack.
Lol good point, I was thinking with the right vitamins I will be fine, it doesn't matter anyways as a Somali woman I will forever be vitamin D and Iron deficiency.don’t. you know how hard it is for us to get our vitamin D in the winter and you’ll be shutting off he only good sources for it. I assume you wear hijab. Winter+hijab+vegan= deadly lol.
Hubby and I thinking about turning to plant based diet, I tried this before and was miserable but that was partly because I was eating the same boring meals. Share you favorite vegetarian/vegan dishes.
how about paleo instead? I heard it’s a really good anti inflammatory diet. you get to eat meat still but it has to be high quality meat.
