medicine. I finished my associates in the US. I’ll get a medicine degree in Kenya inshallah and take the boarding exam for whichever country I want to work at. Thats what my dad said 🤷🏾‍♂️. You have to realize I would rather stay where I’m at but my parents are forcing me go to Nairobi

Nairobi is basically like any western city now. If you want nightlife, it’s there. High eateries and shops, nice malls, lots of American fast food chains (Dominos, KFC, Subway).

When I got to Nairobi from my stay in Garowe I nearly overdosed on the KFC there. It’s so good.:mjhaps:

Literally so much fun. I was there for around 7 months (then covid happened so I stayed for another 4 months), and it’s so lit wlh. Your gonna love it. There’s many diaspora from the UK, Australia, US, Canada, etc. that are there for the same reasons that you are, so it won’t be hard to make friends. If you were never allowed to leave your crib late at night, say goodbye to that walaal. Literally everything is open past midnight and everyone goes out including the habiyars too. They have pretty much everything western you need so your not going to feel out of place. It’s amazing that they also have the adhaan play as well, because you never could hear that in US. Everything is cheap there as well. As long as you know your way and you stay away from the “jokorai” and bad influences, you’ll be good. Also make sure you have a relative that lives there, so that you won’t be scammed or be harassed (by Kenyans) cause your from the west.

Waryaa if you are getting a bachelors degree only then you are better off doing it in the US. Use the federal student aid and make good decision like don’t live in campus dorms, start at a cheap college/university and transfer later to finish your degree. And whatever you do, don’t take a loan.

You don’t get the headache of trying of find a job with untrusted degree from Kenya

And please OP, please, don't "follow your dreams". Find degree programs with lucrative, high-demand job opportunities that look like they'll stay that way for a long time like comp science, pick whichever one you can stand the most or even enjoy if possible and do it. Dreams come after you've saved up enough lacag and built yourself a strong passive income through assets. Write your books and pursue being an animator then. Right now your pursuit is LACAG!

I went there for dacan celis a long time ago. I even made a thread about it. Anyway my message to you is that you’ll end up doing in Nairobi all of the things they’re trying to prevent you from doing here.

We should look at a city like Nairobi, Addis Ababa etc and be ashamed of our cities in Somalia. We should learn a lesson or two, rather than qabalism, separation and in fighting. Look at Mogadishu and hargeisa, both cities stuck in medieval times where roads (are they even roads?) become like oceans when rain arrives, no sewage system, not even a functioning traffic lights, and so on. I could carry on and on.
When will somalia move into the modern era? The answer remains to be unseen.

Muqdisho has many roads being built and it only recently was fully liberated. Do not compare it to Hargeisa lol.

Regardless Somalia can’t move forward properly without security. Progress will explode once we have that given the amount of money we have access to from diaspora and potential for resource extraction
