I guess I expected you to say nurture (environmental), since mental illness can typically be passed through genes (nature).

I only witnessed one case of so-called jinni as a kid that mortified me, guess what, it turned out to be a serious case of postpartum psychosis.

The sad thing is that people with mental illnesses get dehumanised in Somalia and locked up in separate rooms, chained to trees/poles, hoarded up in asylums with no form of care at all. Fortunately, there are some doctors and agencies trying to increase awareness related to mental health in Somalia which although is small steps at the moment its still something that can cause a change in the way people think (what with any form of mental illness being equated to "jhinn baa ku chira").

Im not jinn....but its good you believe in jinn. Saas uma fogid hada jinn aaminsantahay. Waali is negative because mental illness is negative. We gained independence 1960 and had civil war 30 years later and hasnt recovered. So we never developed our language the last 30 years. I always get amazed how good your somali is for a xabash guy
