Being able to practice you Deen in a Gaal nation doesn't mean or necessitate that you support that which is prohibited in islam and Allah hates. The least thing you should do is hate them and their actions from heart if you can't express your dislike for them n public.

Apostates are not normal non-Muslims and shouldn't be treated with any respect, for they didn't respect Allah and his prophet and make fun of us believers even here in Sspot

Allah ﷻ said:

The Ayah means, if you still commit this prohibition after being aware of its prohibition, sitting with them where Allah's Ayat are rejected, mocked at and denied, and you sanction such conduct, then you have participated with them in what they are doing.

By saying:

My interaction with non Muslim users here is usually non deen related topics. I never said I support them leaving Islam. The truth is, my support or non of doesn't change anything about their lives. I just respect people choices to exercise their free will as long as they are not harming others..

You're sanctioning @SonOfMaverick mockery of Islam

My statement was in regards to the original post. Besides, my duty to remind is towards my fellow muslims first and foremost

وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥

We are the followers of the religion of peace after all..

Apostates are not normal non-Muslims and shouldn't be treated with any respect,

You are actually commiting dhulm by generalizing all somalis who left Islam as "not being normal" and saying they are undeserving of basic human decency ie respect.

Why are somalis who leave Islam the worst compared to non somalis who never become muslims? You and the others only say this because you see their actions as the ultimate betrayal. This is no different from how the quraysh during Jahilliyah period were attacking early muslims for leaving the religion of their forefathers. Saying things like they are not somali, discrediting their opinions in other threads, calling them names unprovoked, constant bullying and now openly threatening their lives. Seriously?!

Islam is not a CULT.
There is no compulsion in this deen..

Also, reality is such that there is alot of reasons why people leave religions. For some, it is theological reasons, for others it might be trauma and injustices they suffered due to horrible cultural practices masked as religion. Some leave to follow their worldly desires too, unfortunately.. And where do those who were born into a Muslim household but were never taught Islam fall? Would them leaving Islam be considered apostasy if they were never taught the true deen and are just products of their environment?

May Allah increase our critical thinking and protect us from arrogance.. 😇

I know we shouldn't judge and dissociate with them but I can't help but feel some time of way seeing your own people become disbeliever, it just doesn't sit well with me. But what can I do Allah guides whom he wills, I pray they all find the true path again.
Somalis reaction towards me is basically like how a straight ally is trying to console a VERY closeted homosexual to come out. Despite wearing crosses & catholic Manila head veil, I always mistaken as Muslim and have experienced a lot Islamophobia. What I mean is that my Somali grandpa still practiced mostly Sunni Islam/Waaqism but just slapped a Christian aesthetic to get better jobs/less discrimination. It’s very similar to how African slaves transplants in Haiti needed, at least, to keep up an outward appearance of submitting to the Christianity imposed on them by the colonial authorities. But in reality, they remained steadfastly faithful to their own native religions and spiritual practices, so they disguised the lwa as Catholic saints in their rituals and iconography.

He also chose specifically Catholicism out of spite because he really, really, really didn’t want to do it . At the time, Anti-Catholicism was widespread in the 1920s; anti-Catholics, led by the Ku Klux Klan, believed that Catholicism was incompatible with democracy.

My father felt very guilty about not Muslim and told me that he felt like a traitor to his people. I feel like my case is different because they were in a time where persecution during the 1930s and 1940s found their efforts thwarted by the United States’ restrictive immigration quotas and the complicated, demanding requirements for obtaining visas. During the time, my grandfather “converted “ German immigrants in the US suffered harassment, internment, lynchings - and even the humiliation of being tarred and feathered.

To be honest it’s sad too like I can never in my life be Christian or any other religion other then Islam for one reason, our ancestors where the earlier and first Muslims even before the whole of Arabia one of oldest mosque on earth is in north Somalia 1400 years old.

and lastly our ancestor even before last message and Islam where-never pagans or idol worshippers this one of reason it was perfect and easy to accept Islam, we believed in 1 god without images or idols and no partners and no sons or daughters. Fun fact if you go to Ethiopia there are tribes that still practice waaqafenna around 1 million people still practice our old religion. So why on earth would I forsake a monotheistic religion for Christianity that is basically idol worship and takes a human being as god and also trinity where god is in 3 forms even my lost ancestors didn’t go that low or misguided. I would rather go back to waaqenna than any other religion, Islam is perfect and truly the message of every prophet sent from God.

This is something that I tried to put my finger on. I don’t have any desire to live among Somalis for my entire life. They know that. I don’t want to force myself on them. I don’t want to change their minds about their beliefs.

I care about my community but I can care and love from a distance? Is that really something that is so hard to comprehend? My life is so detached from theirs. I don’t know why I can’t form my own opinions and concerns without them getting triggered. I am Somali too.
So are you Christian or atheist ?

So how come you’re still Christian? Your Somali ancestors before Islam were on straighter path than modern Christians who are idol worshippers and associate partners with the 1 true god. Christian’s are not followers of Jesus but Paul, your ancestors worshiped one God called Waaq which means god in Cushitic, they never had images of God nor did they believe god could have son or daughter or partners, so your basically not only a traitor to your people today but also the ones before Islam you bow to constructive religion of white god which was used to purge and colonise our land and contient.
