Cali Khalif is a joke and a complete failure as a politician, He could have unified his people, and used the credibility he had in 2012 to negotiate with Puntland on better representation and balance. I would have agreed with him completely. Instead he declared Puntland, not Somaliland which was responsible for the death of more than 100 civilians in Togdheer, as his main enemy.

Cali Khalif is a political scientist, he used to lecture at Harvard in the 80s, yet he does not understand that his people will end up like the Afars of Djibouti if Somaliland were to ever gain independence. Somaliland is unrecognized today and is not willing to even allow his people to become speaker of parliament let alone VP. The highest position his people are permitted in Somaliland is deputy of the speaker of the house, essentially a secretary position to the 4th most powerful office of an unrecognized state LoL!
Now what makes him think an independent Somaliland will allow his people to even hold that position when they no longer need a face to present to the IC as proof of inclusion? He is probably selling his people down the river, so the quote from Upton Sinclair is apt:

It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it
