What about the falasha and the so-called "Ethiopian Jews"? I heard they are just Judaized Agews.
Falasha is a name that came about after their defeat at the hands of Emperor Yeshaq, who slaughtered their royal family, took their lands and cities and cast them out into the wilderness. Gonder used to be their capital city. Falasha roughly translates to "hobo" or "drifter". Yeshaq is the same Amhara king who killed the last Sultan of Ifat. He was a real bastard, he killed the first three sultans of Adal in battle though the last battle he fought he also died.
Before their kingdom was destroyed by Yeshaq, they were called Beta Israel which is their proper name, this means "House of Israel". This is after the Emperor Israel who fought his brother Gabra Masqal for the throne of Aksum. Aksum in those days had a mixed population of Jews and Christians, and the two brothers Gabra Masqal was a Christian and Israel was a Jew. This civil war broke out around the year 693 when their father died Israel was next in line for the throne but the Christian church backed Gabra Masqal to overthrow his brother.
Israel withdrew to southern Aksumite lands where Jewish support was strongest with all his supporters and founded the House of Israel (Beta Israel) in Gonder, he took the throne name Phineas. His successors all took the throne name Gidawon. The last Gidawon, Gidawon the 4th died in combat with the Christian king's army and his daughter Yodit took command and defeated the Christian kingdom and ruled Aksum for 40 years. Eventually she died and Beta Israel withdrew from Aksum a few years later. Beta Israel was finally conquered, along with everyone else, by Amde Seyon. They were a vassal kingdom until Yeshaq killed the last of the dynasty and broke the nation.
