Af Reer Waqooyi should be the standard Somali

This is not as extreme as I had in mind but it’s similar to this

it has to do with the way he speaks. some people talk too fast and say words quickly. I had to listen his words carefully and for a non waqooye speaker, it's gonna be 2 folds harder to understand.

Oh okay, i've heard a few like that and some stronger, I thought it was maybe from a certain region in waqooyi. Waqooyi generally is not too different from most other regions, Im not from there and I can understand most easily.

As a North Eastern speaker i am a member of high society by default. I wouldnt dream of being biased walaal. Like the southern American accent the North Western accent has its charm whilst also having the same drawbacks

As I said, there are various permutations. Reer Awdal, Djibouti and Galbeed don't speak with a Southern drall nor do most Northwesterners. :mjlol:
We obviously know who you had in mind when you made that comparison. And as I reiterated why were nearly all radio broadcasters in pre-civil war Somalia from the Northwest? Along with the majority of singers, actors/actresses and playwrites.
:manny: I also won't lie I'm biased in favour of Northwest since its the one I've been exposed to my whole life. Its by no means the best. To say that would make me sound grandiose. My point is based on familarity.

it's not from a certain region but an individual thing. mainly people who haven't learned the somali language specially reer djibouti young folks. I speak like that myself.

All these dialect threads always disgust me

people here competing their the best while simultaneously putting down other peoples accents and dialects
How very ungracious and uncivilised

Its not necessary to put people down thats just being insecure. This topic however isn’t so harmful if people can learn to argue which english accent is better with common decency they should with Af-Somali aswell.

I know
but they wont be able to sadly, toxicity accompanies their talk

Waqooyi dialect is closer to standard Somali than other dialects. Written Somali is basically waqooyi dialect without the dh.

In Mudug dialect they add -hayaa after the verb for example: tagahayaa, cunahayaa, imanahayaa etc. In some instances they replace rt with dh when it's in the middle of a word for example: ma jirto -> ma jidho.

We say ma jirto not ma jidho.
And we say Imanahayaa and cunahayaa too if we want to :denzelnigga:
