This has less to do with sexual access and more to do with the upending of traditional gender roles and the resultant decrease in marriage due to many women becoming choosy etc. because their expectations are higher, and also due to a lack of authoritative balance in relationships.
I don't think the above applies to Western men necessarily, more Eastern societies.
As for educated women, I don't think most educated men in our community frown upon enlightened sisters.
