It is the reason why I will not marry. I'm philosphically against paying meher, soori and other fees to the bride and her family. I believe it is sexist, commodifies women and is ripe for abuse by busybodies. I'm against extravagant weddings, and involvement of religious busybodies in a private affair between two consenting adults. My idea is civil ceremony in court where you sign documents and that is it. All this pointless ceremonies are a waste of time and resources.

I see this trend in every ethnic group in the West. Black women will demand a tall tyrone who plays in the NBA and is balling out of control but will date a white or latino dude who is broke and ugly, same thing with Asian women and their men, and so fourth.

How is that working out so far ? There is an epidemic of young women who wanted to get married but can't, no men. Potential suitors are put off by these exorbitant sums. It is not the only reason but why not level the field.
