Tuesday 27 June 2017

A large number of Ethiopian cattle have entered the kingdom in recent weeks after the approval of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture for the opening of the Ethiopian quarry, which contributed to reducing the cost of transport by about 50 per cent at their discretion. They pointed out that many investors are moving to Ethiopia to strengthen the Kingdom's trade and investment in the livestock sector, where a number of Saudi businessmen met livestock traders from Ethiopia to conclude new agreements, and raise the volume of Ethiopian imports of livestock.

"A number of Saudi businessmen working in the livestock sector have held frequent meetings with investors from Ethiopia after the opening of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Water Quarry," he said, noting that the quarry raised the number of livestock imported from Ethiopia during the past two months.

He pointed to the doubling of the quantities imported from Ethiopia after the opening of the Ethiopian quarry, in light of the movement to facilitate the transfer of livestock from Ethiopia to the Kingdom, which affected the cost and reduce, pointing out that the reasons for the attractiveness of Ethiopian cattle similar to Somali cattle.

He said that after the Ethiopian quarry was approved, shipment from Ethiopia to the Kingdom would be direct. The ship would arrive without passing through the Djibouti quarry, as was the case previously, indicating that all cattle coming from Ethiopia would be transported directly from the ports of Djibouti without passing through Djibouti.

"The Djibouti quarry costs nine to ten dollars per head, other than forage and other livestock needs, and some other expenses. The final cost of raising the livestock on board is $ 12 to $ 13, Ethiopia quarry 50 per cent ". The opening of the Ethiopian quarry enabled merchants to import livestock directly and

What you have to remember is Saudi Arabia has always been the biggest enemy to the Somali economy. This is not about Somalia or Somaliland. Saudi Arabia knows if Somalis got their act together we would start pumping more oil than them, so therefore Saudi Arabia would become irrelevant and poor.
I don’t know where they got this from but it was always part of Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy to undermine Somalia as a whole.

Well let this be a lesson to some of the naive Landers that brown-nosed Saudi Arabia a couple of weeks ago. SA sees all Somalis as same and in this case it is Somaliland that will suffer the most just like the livestock ban since that is what Somaliland's economy depends the most on.

Or it's just because of the recent abaaro that wiped out the majority of the livestock in Somalia/SL:manny:

Somalia has no proven oil.

Topic has nothing to do with SL Duke couldn't help but to slap SL into the headline :mjlol:

"Wadanka Sacuudiga Oo Daboolka Ka Qaaday War Ka Nixiyey Somalida".

Nothing to do with Sland because it doesn't depend on exporting livestock to Saudi Arabia.

As if any livestock has left in the country to begin with :gucciwhat:

I can predict your next thread when livestock ban is lifted

Siilanyo allows livestock export to resume for his fat Saudi master

Disregarding the fact 80% of our livestock vanished in the last drought bal blah blah ... there is no long term planning SL government is a joke.

Give it a rest already.

I know it is a hard pill to swallow but booty-clapping for UAE and Saudi Arabia did not work.

Somaliland took majority of that damage because they're more reliant on livestock that Puntland. Puntland GDP contribution from livestock is only 40%

Legit one of the most worrying things I have read this week. Somalia cannot compete with Ethiopia on quality, health or price in livestock. It is at a complete disadvantage in its main export sector to Ethiopia.

Isn't Ethiopia's land too mountainous for large scale livestock raising? Won't all those cows just fall off giant cliffs all the time :icon lol:

What you are thinking about is the Amhara highlands where thousands of years of agriculture has totally eroded the plateau. Most of Oromia and SNNP is undulating hill-land that is perfectly good for growing animals.

Bale the most mountainous region in all of Oromia looks mostly like this

Isn't trading with Turkey an option? But I think Turkey has a tougher safety regulations than the sand . There's a reason why only Arabs take our cattle.
