These people are most likely fishermen.
Indians are kidnapping fishermen in Somali waters without any pushback from the so called government in Mogadishu. They are literally picking up anyone they see near illegal foreign fishing vessels and using this to market the strength of their navy.
You then have some Somalis celebrating this as they think that these fishermen are from a particular clan. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a tactical agreement between the FGS and these foreign vessels to harass fishermen in specific areas.
I think that it’s time that Somalia as a country is disbanded. There really isn’t a reason for people who hate each other and who allow such disrespect to stay together. Many countries go through civil war but they then move on with leaders who at least do the bare minimum to defend their sovereignty without exception. Not us though.

Why mention them being from Puntland like its a separate country? Also, they were in Somali waters and an Iranian fishing boat had no business being there.
The Indian navy acting like a protection gang for illegal fishing vessels in our waters can be called out by HSM without waiting for the Turkish parliament. Even if nothing major comes out of it, it is the Federal government’s responsibility to go through the appropriate diplomatic and legal channels to demand a stop to this. Right now the Indians are controlling the narrative. Where is the FGS’s statement on this?
They were captured on Socotra Island, not in Somalia's waters, they are PMPF the UAE trained Militas from Puntland who are engaging in piracy. They had taken over the Iranian fishing boats with the intention of using it to seize larger ships.
