Hello, I am home for the summer and Somalis are around near my parent's place. While I was at a star bucks in a suburb that is about .5% Somali I saw 4 Somali Odays come in not fasting. They were dressed in their religious gear and they all looked healthy. Two looked ashamed when I looked them in the eyes but the other two avoided eye contact and pretended they weren't going to eat until they gave up.
Why do Somalis feel the need to be judgemental to women who aren't wearing hijabs? Why can the same guy who is a 'sheikh look down on women yet not fast which is one of the five pillars? Why is Islam a sexist religion and put all the stress on women? Why is it okay for a woman to be stoned to death for adultery but a man can get away with it? Why in Somali culture are Somali women who are raped and become impregnated looked down upon while the men are looked at as normal? Why are men allowed to beat their wives? Why can men marry more than one woman when a husband's role is to please his wife and most women hate this? Why does Islam clearly say more women are going to hell yet men are getting 72 virgins? How is it mathematically possible to have 72 virgins if more women are in hell? Where are these virgins coming from since most people die not being virgins? Why can Muhammad intercede when he caused several wars yet Jesus cannot intercede when all he did was heal and he never killed anyone. Why is a woman worth 2/3rd of a man? Why can men take women as bounties of war? Why is my penalty for rejecting this religion death? Why are Somalis so bent on being Muslim when Muslim countries are no longer giving them aid while Western nations are. Why do Somalis think Islam is okay when it allowed for AS and IS to rise during a power vacuum. Where are the nation's old movie theaters? Operas? Standing Army? Where are the irrigation systems? The wells? Why are you Muslim when you clearly see these problems?
I am anything but a third wave feminist but I believe in basic human rights. Islam is sexist and I refuse to be a part of this sexism. Go ahead criticize Christianity I know many of you will resort to that but how do you defend what you know is so clearly wrong?
