The Byzantine Empire with its capital at Constantinople was a continuation of Rome. Allah called them Rome.
The only modern country mentioned in the Quran would be Egypt.

true, true. Egypt I think is a very devout country compared to most others so I think having such historical significance has really worked out for them.
Tbh, Turkey's claim is not too out there. The Ottomans did absorb the Byzantine state, and Turkey suceeded the Ottomans.
