24 men involved in the r*pe of two young sisters in Lascanood, Sool, Somalia.

Sorry but I have to disagree, Somali police during kacaan were mass rapists, so many stories of women in their custody raped, theres many old newspapers you can find with such cases

I don't agree it was normal or common tho
Civil servants just like civilians are capable of committing crimes, including rape. That’s not unique to Somalia, nor does it make it a state-sponsored or systematic issue.

Here are just a few recent examples from the UK alone:

You can search this kind of misconduct for almost any country. But does that mean we label UK police as “mass rapists” or claim the British state is systematically enabling rape? No because that would be an exaggerated and unfair generalization.

The same principle applies to Somalia. Individual cases of abuse do not automatically equate to a state policy or institutional endorsement.

@Idilinaa I agree with everything you said about the prevalence of sexual violence in Somalia but what are your thoughts on FGM? It is still a major abuse happening even if its not unique to Somalia.

I can't see who you are responding to, but this is absolutely true. I assume a Kacaanist is trying to cover this up, as they always do. Whenever you mention anything that regime did, they run in to pretend it wasn't true.

The Kacaan regime used rape as punishment and humiliation. For example, when they were ethnically cleansing Majeerteen people, red berets were ordered to rape the girls, which forced the MJs in Mudug to hide their girls among another clan/ally at the time. This is well-known.

This is an excerpt from Abdulahi Yusuf AUN's book. General Ahmed Saleebaan Abdalla, the former head of Somalia's National Security Service (NSS) came to Gaalkacyo and said 'their property ....AND WOMEN and sharaftooda are Xalaal to you"... kicking off a wave of ethnic cleansing and rape.

This is not suprising, Siyad was an alcoholic, denied the Quran & set scholars on fire (literally) when they opposed him

Wait how could they have Xasuqed Mj ? I thought the guy who leveled Hargeisa was Mj

Wait how could they have Xasuqed Marehan ? I thought the guy who leveled Hargeisa was Mj

Xasuuqed MJ you mean.

LOL

Are you kidding me? You do realise that SYL was founded and funded by patriotic MJs, and they united with other Somalis to create a united Somali party? Siad Barre's regime carried out a coup, to get rid of SYL. In addition, Kacaanists routinely accuse SYL of being very 'corrupt' when they try to defend his illegal coup. He also targeted MJs very heavily, which is why many left the country, and SSDF was founded. Moreoever, MJs were the FIRST clan to be ethnically cleansed by his regime.

Morgan aka Siad Barre's nephew? The only MJ thing about him, was his abtiris.

Not just that. He was featured on a Netflix documentary about a powerful Christian Political Group. He allegedly told them he would worship Jesus in exchange for weapons.

JEFF SHARLET: Indeed. And Grassley has been involved with the organization for quite some time, since the ’80s, when he traveled to Somalia to join Barre, Siad Barre, in prayer to Jesus. And he brought with him a defense contractor named Bill Brehm.

And Barre was a kind of a cynical character, as you might expect for a dictator. He was very clear. He says, “I’m willing to pray to Jesus, and here’s what I want in return.” He says, “I want my defense budget doubled.” He says, “I want meetings for my officials with the Reagan White House. And I want a sort of a hands-off policy while I crack down on some rebels.” Doug Coe, the leader of the group, wrote back, in essence, “Done, done and done.”

And when we look at history, so it was. And Barre used those weapons, supplied to him in part by the US, to wage a war of almost biblical proportion on his own people, from which Somalia has not recovered to this day. The Family doesn’t consider that a failure; they consider that God’s will for Somalia.

That's not how it worked. First of all, you have to realise the Government is always the largest employer in any country. All clans worked for the regime, including your Isaaq clan. In addition, if we discuss who was directly involved in the MJ ethnic cleansing, there were quite a few Isaaq military officers, e,g, Tanzania and a few whose names escape me now.

Even if people disagreed with his actions, they still needed to pay bills. And of course the Government was not just the military. So, not everyone who worked for the government was taking part in crimes.

The men who run your government in Hargeisa now, worked for his regime, such as Faysal Waraabe etc.

That seems like fake news conspiracy theories theres pics of siad barre going to hajj I’m sure you can find it on the internet

How bad was what they did in Puntland ? Anywhere as bad as Hargeisa ?

What about when TFG soldiers and his Ethiopian allies were raping innocent women and children in the south during the Ethiopian invasion. Does that ring a bell?

My entire first post discussed men misusing their power to rape, so at what point have I ever denied that this could even be possible? The post I was referring to, was when it is ordered by a regime vs soldiers being demonic. During the Siad Barre regime, rape was absolutely ordered from above. TFG ordering rape? I have no evidence of that, but I will accept it if it's given. Because why would that be shocking.

You do realise these people can be sued? They wouldn't open themselves up to litigation like that nor would they risk ruining their credibility.

If Siad Barre's regime wiped out Somalis without any shame, why are you shocked at Siad Barre's antics.

Also, guess who also goes to Hajj all the time? Real life killers and thieves. What does that even mean.

I'm not sure any of that is true. Somalia was very much an Islamic country under his government and he facilitated the construction of mosques and supported local imams. The "scholars" he executed were also enemies.

I didn't get an alert of your post.

I am not sure if this is correct interpretation. As he has done a full length interview with Egyptian journalists about this about the inheritance law controversy and religion.

From this, it looks like the regime was battling kwharij rebels that were trying to incite and provoke violence through the use of religion, threatening to murder people, doing takfir by claiming him and others are atheists and so on.

He also made it frank anything people found that is wrong with the law could be amended and changed if people demanded it

Somalia during his regime was not a secular country at all. Islam was considered a state religion. They made quranic school compulsory and built mosques and professed/stressed Islam.

He favored the Wadaads (Religious men) bringing literacy to the masses in the form of Islamic education and he’s seen condemning sectarianism, and calling for the construction and advancement of Duksi’s (islamic schools)

Documentary segment mentioning and showing the construction of moques and Duksi's schools and the central role Islamic education had:

You can also see it in the governments policies: Not only were religious leaders elevated into position but in many cases Islamic credentials became mandatory.

Also foreign policy wise Somalia swayed more towards Muslim/Arab countries than with the soviet or communist bloc. Proving to that Islam and their Arab/Religious cultural ties mattered more to them than communism

View attachment 352359

Mengistu was not perceived favorable in the Muslim world if you discount South Yemen and Libya, none was supportive of him and Saudi's in the classified document i showed you was supportive of a moderate Ethiopia but wanted to outs him for being a communist and thats why they pushed for Somalia to invade Ethiopia but snaked us in the end because they didn't care about Ogaden only what was tactical to them. Saudi's back then were no different from what we come to know them now, they abandoned even Muslims in Eritrea and sponsored jihadi terrorism in Muslim lands.

Same goes for Libya they were sponsoring destabilization efforts in Arab/Muslim countries and Gadaffi was neither pro-Arab or Pan-African as he pretended to the masses in his meglomaniacle antics.

All those countries were annoyed with Somalia because it's perused its own independent interests, rather than being a puppet tool that they wanted it to be.

Why did he monitor people? Because they were religious or was it because they were subversives?

The so called ''Sheikhs'' or ''learned men'' were Saudi and Al-Qaida operatives . Saudis were sponsoring terrorism and were crazy maniac Takfiris called other Muslims kuffar and atheist and you see it come full circle into a dangerous idealogy where they attempted to incite violence. It was not much different from Alshabaab we currently see today
