Garissa and Wajir could provide a lot of preliminary information on Somali towns.
  • Population(2019)
  • Garissa: 163,914
    • Assumption(2025) 200,000
  • Wajir: 130,116
    • 160,000
  • %: 80%

  • Buildings:
  • Garissa 77,411
  • Wajir: 62,856
  • %: 82%
People per building 2.5 (Garissa)

Applied this ratio to Somalia towns:

Mogadishu: 1,223,015
Hargeisa: 413,107
Djibouti: 354,675
Jigjiga: 335,890
Baidoa: 218,200
Garissa: 200,000(assumption)
Wajir: 160,000(assumption)
Burao: 156,235
Kismayo: 141,050
Bosaso: 109,925

Depends a lot on how many multi story buildings were in Garissa. But Somalia is pretty much empty. Max population of 15 million people.

Disclaimer
Would need to know current population data of these two towns or 2019 building numbers and it would be less of a guesswork.

2.5 per household doesn’t make sense. America’s average is 2.51. Somalia’s gotta be at least 5 in the north and 6 in the south. 2.5 means we’re below replacement birth rate + young couples regularly delay pregnancy. It’s impossible.

And Xamar’s growing both horizontally and vertically. So It’s impossible to know for sure, but the upcoming 1p1v local election should give us something to work with.

But I agree that many somalis tend to grossly overestimate their population. But HS, SWS and Xamar are undercounted. Mark my words

HS, Specially Middle Shabelle is grossly undercounted, I agree.
Rainfed Farms(MS).jpg

300,000 Hectares of Farmland outside of the river bed.

To give you an idea of the scale, this is the cultivated(rainfed) land between Jigjiga and Hargeisa. Which is about 768, 028 Hecctares. Middle Shabelle has 40% of this region that has a population of 3million.

The 2019 Kenyan census is not reliable in Somali inhabited counties.
Court orders fresh census in Mandera, Wajir and Garissa, quashes 2019 count

According to the 2019 census:
  1. Wajir with 62,856 buildings has a population of 90,116.
  2. Garissa with 77,411 buildings has a population of 163,399.
  3. Mandera with 40,741 buildings has a population of 114,718.
This is of course laughable. If you take this data seriously, these three cities have an average household size of 2.03.

kismayo and other places would be greener without camels. the camels decrease greenery. in saudi regions with raina nad greenery they dont let a lot of camels loose so they look greener than kismayo.
I’ve seen videos of camels in places like ijara in NFD they seem to be spreading everywhere even places they never used to roam

The agricultural crop production for Middle Shabelle suggests it can only support maybe 100,000 people at most.
