Great news for Reer Godey and this is probably the single largest investment into a Somali inhabitanted region in not just modern times but in history.

Big win for DDS. :yousmart:

As @Removed said, if built, this complex will only serve to make Ethiopia more dependent upon the Somali region.

We should not want galbeed to stagnate economically or socially. More education and economic development will strengthen Somali nationalism, it will not weaken it. The rise of Oromo nationalism came about precisely due to the education of elite Oromo in Addis or universities abroad.
Yeah true when we take over Somali galbeed, it should be in a good developed state 👀

This sounds like a great development, similar to that car plant that was built in Jigjiga last year, the Somali region is really moving forward. What is all this about poison you guys are talking about? @Idilinaa gotta set the record straight since I see nothing but positive news from this.

Imagine thinking having hard infrastructure Ethiopia is dependent on is bad. I can’t tell if the qadaadweyn are bitter or have an inferiority complex.

Somali Region will have;
  1. The route to Lamu port(Moyaale)
  2. The route to Berbera
  3. Roads built to the border of Sitti(20 miles from Djibouti road)
  4. The Dire Dhabe-Djibouti railway
  5. Ethiopias fertilizer source
  6. Energy independence
  7. Large food supply and water points
  8. Internal road network that mostly leads to Somalia
  9. Larger economy that militias can levy taxes on through checkpoints
  10. Inflated state militia taking up most of the border security(Doolow might soon be vacated aswell)

I wouldn’t pay it much mind they feed on that. Regulars everywhere support Somaliweyn. I say that as someone who barely believes in Somalia.

Being isolationist langaabs explains why the PIM crowd are so annoying and toxic like the iidoors and why they get along.

March 2025

The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) has condemned the Somali Regional State's recent meeting with the Chinese energy firm Poly-GCL, accusing officials of facilitating "resource plunder" while disregarding the political rights of the Somali people. The group warned the company of "repercussions" should it proceed with oil and gas extraction without securing local consent.

In a statement released Friday, ONLF asserted that any resource exploitation in the Ogaden region must have the explicit and legitimate approval of the Somali people. "If they attempt to extract oil or any other resources from Somali territory without consent, they will bear full responsibility for the repercussions," the group said.

The Somali Regional State's Bureau of Mines, Energy, and Petroleum confirmed that officials met with Poly-GCL representatives on Thursday to discuss "operational challenges and opportunities." Bureau Head Mohamed Ali Mohamed and Deputy Head Idman Ugaas led the meeting, which concluded with an agreement to enhance collaboration. "Such meetings are important for both the bureau and the company," the bureau stated.

ONLF, however, denounced the meeting as part of Ethiopia's "ongoing efforts to push forward oil extraction in Ogaden while ignoring unresolved Somali political rights

ONLF argues that no legitimate discussion on oil extraction can take place until the political rights of the Somali people are recognised.

“For over a century, the Somali people under Ethiopian rule have fought for their right to self-determination,” ONLF stated. “The peace agreement between ONLF and Ethiopia was meant to address the root causes of this conflict, but Abiy Ahmed’s regime has deliberately undermined it in favor of resource exploitation.”

“Abiy’s regime has no legal authority over Somali resources,” the statement read. “The so-called Somali representatives under his administration do not represent the Somali people. Any agreements made with foreign corporations are null and void.”

The party also addressed the international community and said: “the world must be warned: Somali resources belong to the Somali people, and any attempt to seize them by force will be met with strong resistance
