Cushites would be pretty much non-existent without Lowland East Cushites. Us, Afars and Sahos secured a huge chunk of the coasts, especially us and then the Oromos pulled this expansion. Remove LE Cushitic from the maps out there and you'll see that Agaws, South Cushites and our HEC cousins are pretty much just tiny pockets and I don't have much faith in the Beja.

Bejas seem to be Arabizing more and more by the day. Before the war Sudan had no interest in making their language co-official or anything like that and I don't think that will change once things calm down. A language can only limp around so long when it's only spoken at home and not even fully on the streets cos out in public they'll be surrounded by Arabs and a few NS folks whom they will defer to speaking in Arabic to.
