No it’s serious, SL acts like a seperate state.

And they receive some recognition reserved for recognised autonomous nations.

This has been said countless times before but it bears repeating. If Somaliland secedes from the union, it is game over for Hawiye politically in Somalia. There is no simple way around it. If Somaliland secedes on a tribal basis, Darood would form a large plurality in the new Somali state. I'd wager most Darood would agree to an independent Somaliland if we gave up our land claims to the Harti tribal areas. If anything, it's Hawiye who should be more anti SL than Darood given its in their best interests to be on a level playing field with Darood.
