FGS has been silent for almost a week and now that Puntland wrapped up investigation and all is clear for Puntland to confiscate it lawfully, the FGS out of panic comes out of the woodworks to double down on the piracy angle.

Puntland scored 2 goals: most importantly BRUTAL EXPOSE by further embarrassing and exposing FGS as a corrupt, incompetent actor with evidence to IC, and also the lawful confiscation of this shipment of heavy arms free of charge and free delivery

Somalia accused the semi-autonomous Puntland region of hijacking a ship with military equipment destined for a training facility in the capital, Mogadishu, that’s run by the Turkish government.

“In accordance with bilateral agreement between Somalia and Turkey, the cargo was legally authorized and fully compliant with both national and international laws,” Somalia’s Ministry of Information said in a statement demanding the release of the vessel christened Sea World.

“The hijacking of this vessel, carried out by individuals affiliated with the Puntland State, is a direct violation of the provisional constitution and undermines the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the nation,” it said.

Puntland’s Minister for Interior Abdi Farah Said and Abdifatah Abdinur, the state minister for the presidency, didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Puntland, one of Somalia’s six federal states, has a fraught relationship with the central government. It declared autonomy in 1998, though unlike the neighboring region of Somaliland, has not sought to be recognized as an independent state.

Add to that the fact that the ship MV Sea World itself is a flagged ship with a long history of transgressions and subsequent sanctions currently using shadow fleet facilitator under fraudulent Comoros shipping registry. Let alone the shipment, the ship itself is hot.

HSM really wanted to make sure these illegal weapons import would be completely under the radar and took huge risk for himself personally, everyone else involved and his government.
