HISTORY Were Somalis Pagans before Islam or did we have a history of following other Abrahamic faiths?

Says the white boomer with a Jarerweyne mail order bride who is actually obsessed with Bantus. I talk primarily about Afro-Asiatic peoples, Cushitic specific genetics, Somali clan genetics, and Northeast African history in this sub-section. All your posts in this section, like literally over...

Somali Family abandons the West (Denmark) in order to preserve their diin (mashallah)

They are the Japanese/South Koreans of Europe. Everything tech-heavy gets produced in Germany when it comes to Europe. But at the same time, I think this is a bit exaggerated, they are not that special either, just slightly more industry focused than other European countries, but not extremely so.

The EU is Germany's expansion program. They control it along with France. I think the EU will start a two tiered system soon, one between serious countries who want to integrate further (mainly Germany, Austria, Benelux, and France) and one for the rest (Poland, Italy, Greece etc.). It is a...

Somali Family abandons the West (Denmark) in order to preserve their diin (mashallah)

North American cadaans descend from all the weirdo cadaans who couldn't make it in Europe or were social outcasts. All the conformist ones stayed. So that is a partial explanation.

Somali Family abandons the West (Denmark) in order to preserve their diin (mashallah)

Nordic culture is conformist when it comes to agreed upon social norms. They are like East Asians when it comes to social norms and opinions. You must follow the standard or else.. But weirdly at the same time they are extremely individualist with everything else. Their culture is not like...

HISTORY Were Somalis Pagans before Islam or did we have a history of following other Abrahamic faiths?

History is not an exact science. You can find articles to argue any kind of position/view. I am not going to delve in your fringe articles. The mainstream meaning of Zanj is well-known.

HISTORY Were Somalis Pagans before Islam or did we have a history of following other Abrahamic faiths?

Your source is based on a handful times it was misused. The vast majority of cases when Arabs mentioned what are now Ethiopians they used the Arabic form of Abyssinian. Even in the Quran and hadiths, all references to Ethiopians uses Abyssinian. What is your obsession with Bantus? All your...

HISTORY Were Somalis Pagans before Islam or did we have a history of following other Abrahamic faiths?

There is a difference between what a word typically means and the misuse of a word by a minority of speakers. The term Zanj was applied in its common usage to either Southeast Africa as a region (today's Swahili speaking areas) or to describe 'blacks' present in the Middle East as the majority...

    Debate: Daniel Haqiqatjou vs Destiny

The problem is that slavery extended way beyond prisoners of war. Likewise with Christianity, albeit it was uncommon in Europe before the 1600s, even though European serfs were quasi-slaves, it wasn't the same as the Balkan and Zanj slaves. They were more like bound to the plot of land and...

I much rather be killed than be an adoon. I would probably kill the guy trying to enslave me. Perhaps because I am Somali. Somalis never will be slaves. :trumpsmirk:

    Debate: Daniel Haqiqatjou vs Destiny

In ancient times, killing the men of a hostile conquered group or disarming them, but not enslaving them. In modern times, Chinese or Soviet style re-education camps and sophisticated surveillance to keep hostile groups in check, no enslavement. Slavery is both morally wrong and economically...

    Debate: Daniel Haqiqatjou vs Destiny

Problem is, slavery in Islamic history extended way beyond prisoners of war. For example, the Ottomans (heirs of the last legitimate caliphates) stole kids from Balkan Christians, held them as slaves, and then trained them as elites to run the empire as they lacked tribal loyalties. All...

HISTORY Were Somalis Pagans before Islam or did we have a history of following other Abrahamic faiths?

@Som Originally the term Zanj comes from the word Azania, which is either a South Cushitic or Greek origin word for the area starting from roughly Kismayo to Tanzania. Earliest Greek descriptions of that place didn't make much of an ethnic distinction from more northern areas, later on however...

    Debate: Daniel Haqiqatjou vs Destiny

I think Haqiqatjou is autistic or something. He gives autist vibes. Also, another sad fact about him, his sister was murdered in 'liberal' America. This may have radicalized him. He looks like a white guy, but apparently he is full Iranian.

    Debate: Daniel Haqiqatjou vs Destiny

Most of the slaves in the Islamic world were Muslims, but were still kept as slaves. You can wiggle your way around justifying slavery using Islamic theology.
