There was a huge slave trade in western Europe. Particularly in Poland between 900-1000 ad.The word Slave is derived from Slavs, an ethnic group.

Those were mainly sold within Europe or to the Byzantines.

The Arabs got their slaves mainly from the Zanj coast around Zanzibar and from Turkic / Mongol POW who started invading Persia and Anatolia.

I know that. It is impossible to destroy an ideology. Especially an intelligent one such as Islam.It Might take a couple of millenia before that can happen. I get it. Something tells me they weren't. Those who were enslaved had chiefs that profited from enslavement. It was a common practice in Zanzibar and Tanzania, Xabeshis also have a history of enslaving each other, particularly the nilotic people of Southern Ethiopia. Mainstream Somalis would rather kill you than enslave you.
