Religious freedom

What unislamic views? All I said is that somali gaals are still somali. Why is this alluding you, it is very basic and easy to understand. For example, a Christian Indian doesn't stop being Indian just because he adopted a different belief. Even us Somalis haven't always been Muslims. The inability to separate religion from ethnicity is so bizarre. And unfortunately, it just shows how little we value ourselves as a people.
And unfortunately, it just shows how little we value ourselves
So paying Alliegance to Islam first alludes to us not showing self worth? We are 100 percent muslim we don't have christian or non muslim somalis you are talking about an imaginary issue that doesn't even exist

They don't want Islam to spread in the same you don't want gaalnimo to spread(both are wrong here). If you can see the issue with one thing why can't you see it here?

These movements don't view Muslims as people the same way you treat murtards. The fact you are muslim denounces any rights in many of these peoples eyes . They don't want to coexist with you if you want religious freedom in these countries why are you against it back home ? It won't spread anything as long as people are properly taught the deen which is the problem.

how is it wrong for a Muslim not to want gaalnimo to spread in a Muslim nation :dead:

look at the example of the Prophet (ﷺ), he lived peacefully side-by-side with the Jews of Madinah (until they broke the peace treaty) yet apostasy was not tolerated amongst the Muslims & was punished

I asked if you were a Muslim because our religion does not equate non-muslims of other faiths & apostates from Islam so why are you?

I said the logic behind both parties is wrong. Closing down mosque and banning halal meat doesn't stop the spread of Islam. Neither does attempting to stop gaalnimo through random bans how does one go about doing that anyway? I'll look up on the topic by myself but from what I have been taught in malcamad it isn't this clear cut. I've seen niggas here advocate for mutah marriages here so don't be surprised if I don't just take your word for it ill have to actually look over it myself.

Al Muslim

الموت لامريكا الموت لإسرائيل
Other religions should be allowed within the bounds of the sharee'a. Apostasy, (public apostasy) should carry the prescribed punishment of death.

That is simply not true. I know people that practice Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and even traditional ones like Waaqfarow. All the more reason we need a unifying Somali identity that isn't connected to one single religion and that doesn't alienate and is respectful of the religions of our brothers and sisters.

sxb, I wholeheartedly encourage you to do your own research on this topic

the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade Muslims from carrying out any injustice towards non-muslims living in Muslim lands

Beware, if anyone wrongs a contracting man, or diminishes his right, or forces him to work beyond his capacity, or takes from him anything without his consent, I shall plead for him on the Day of Judgment.

https://sunnah.com/abudawud/20/125

not only are we prohibited from harming them, the Prophet (ﷺ) even said that he will argue on their behalf on the Day of Judgment!

non-muslims living in Muslim lands were allowed to practice their religion freely & without restriction (e.g. drinking alcohol amongst themselves), to the extent that they even had their own courts where they judged according to their own sacred laws

just as @Daacad90 said, all that they are forbidden from doing is proselyting, it does not make sense to allow others to call Muslims away from Allah....in a Muslim land....

@Abdi Caato
in that case, there is no reason to be against somali gaals that were not proselytized by anyone. Or what if they were converted outside of Muslim land, there should be no problem there right? If the religion doesn't forbid tolerance then we just need to re-evaluate ourself as we can be a little extreme sometimes

you need to differentiate between apostates and non-muslims sxb, I have already mentioned that they do not come under the same ruling in Islam

let's wait and see what @Medulla's macalin says tomorrow, I hope you will report back here sxb :cosbyhmm:

Simply, what are your thoughts on freedom of religion?
We enjoy freedom of religion in the west and in most developed countries. Generally, we aren't bothered by infidels living alongside us, we all just go about our business not really concerned with what goes on between them and god. The question then is, would we be bothered if it was our own country that guaranteed and afforded people the freedom to practice whichever religion they want to practice? Would it be good for Somali if it were more diverse in beliefs? A religiously tolerant Muslim nation isn't strange or unheard of. For example, the Ottomans and the Mughals enjoyed success in a huge part because they were tolerant of other religions. And it was the intolerance of later Mughal emperors that caused the division and the split between the Hindus and Muslims that exist to this day.

I think it would be good if there were more discussion about this topic

Somalia is 100% Muslim. Before we get into what Somalis think about freedom of Religion the key question in my opinion is: Is there a real need for freedom of religion in Muslim Somalia ?
