the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade Muslims from carrying out any injustice towards non-muslims living in Muslim lands

not only are we prohibited from harming them, the Prophet (ﷺ) even said that he will argue on their behalf on the Day of Judgment!
non-muslims living in Muslim lands were allowed to practice their religion freely & without restriction (e.g. drinking alcohol amongst themselves), to the extent that they even had their own courts where they judged according to their own sacred laws
