Great thread MashAllah. I have been taking notes of where every product that I use comes from and is produced, lol it is an old habit I carry with me whenever I encounter new things or products.

There is defintely a big change in the manufactory section compared to when I was here last time wallahi Before almost everything was imported from arabia and other countries but now MashAllah faanka dadkeena, they are not advertising caano niido and other shitty products, now it is Lis iyo Haawa Luul
Heck even modern funitures are made in hargeisa and sold hereI will take pics of my ayeeyos funiture made in hargeisa next time I visit her InshAllah

Telesom, one of the two network providers, runs the mobile money service, ZAAD. The other telecom provider in Somaliland is Somtel.

How popular is mobile money? Richard tells me that every taxi cab you take has their ZAAD number on it, so there’s no need for cash. This report says 78% of the people in Somaliland use ZAAD.

“On ZAAD, people send and receive cash via their phone number. You only need to confirm the name on the wallet after pushing the USSD on your mobile.

For quality assurance, each ZAAD carries the owner’s name. My Zaad account will go with Richard by default.”
