As a somali admixed with arab and who grew up around arabs, I am going to put it bluntly. Arabs hate somalis and make banana jokes and call us abeeds. You could think of it like the superiority complex somalis have with madows but with more malice and vitriol.
I know. I’ve heard about the racism in the Arab world.I try not to react to it emotionally and generalize all people though.I deal with people on an individual basis whether they are Somali or not. Some people are rude and ignorant while others are down-to-earth and polite.
I care a lot more about empowering myself and my people, beginning at the grassroots level.
