Is there an obesity epidemic among Somali women ?

I just discovered nearly every Somali woman i encountered whether it is in the streets, work, university and even family members are fat. Furthermore, back at uni there was hardly any slim xalimos which was strange. Hell even in the land of my forefathers (SL) there were more fat women than fat men. Most of the men back there are skinny to slim.
However, apart from pregnancies, what are the factors of xalimos being obese in general?
They are thick not obese. I don't know where you live i've never seen n obese xalimo. Relax let us enjoy our baris and hilib in peace we not trying to please no faraxs by starvation we left that shit back home.

I keep seeing this on here, but haven’t seen it yet. I can come up with 3 girls I’ve seen who’ve always been fat even as kids (child obesity) out of the whole community, and when I compare it to the general White population it’s clearly skewed towards them.

Don’t eat out and eat junk like the majority of them do. Make homemade food. The high starch Somali diet isn’t enough to make you obese. If you’re fat it’s bc you’re mixing it with Western restaurant qashin.

Most Halimo's I know are skinny don't know what you on about my guy :stopit:

I met a skinny lovely Habar jeclo xalimo university student and a diehard Somalilander supporter last summer whilst I was working. she was wearing a dirac asking me about what my subclan is. When it comes to xalimos that I like I always miss the goal post.

It seems like Somalis are either skinny or fat, it’s like there’s no middle point.

I guess we just have to accept our genetics.

Obesity is a sign of development and sophistication. We are moving up in the world. Closer to our american and kaleej brethren

Obesity is a strong word so let me tone it down a bit.

OVERWEIGHT, sounds much better and adequately fitting.
Their BMI is in the 30s naacala:mad:

I’m simply just sharing my story. I think it’s something that is not spoken about often, and should be brought to the limelight. There’s an obsession with girls tryna look ‘thick’ and I think that’s what’s driving the obesity in our community.
I agree with you, been on this crusade for a while, but why on earth do you have the image of what clearly appears to be an overweight Xaalimo as your avatar? why promote them inadvertently?

The cruel joke our patriarchal society plays on women is that they force them to wear huge suugo smelling jilbaabs. This intUrn means young girls cannot enjoy the feeling of fresh air on their skin while playing forms of sport. Hence they opt out and enjoy more mundane pleasures i.e food.

Somali women in the west are also expected to stay indoors most of the time causing them to be sick and lazy.

The end result are overweight ugly woman who become even more religious due to the reduction in IQ from lack of physical activity.
