Most strategic city in Somalia is Kismayo. Both cities gain their importance from their proximity to the two river valleys. However, the Shabelle river valley is in decline as more and more water is abstracted upstream in Ethiopia. Mogadishu's importance will decline relative to Kismayo in the coming years.

I have the same hypothesis on that matter. Formaajo is a sneaky men. I used to perceive him as a forgiving weaker individual. But it turns out that cheeseman is strategic when shits hits the fan. I urge him to quadruple the bombings on Al shabaab and keep reclaiming territory in the name of the somali government.
Everyone civilized or cosmopolitan has long ago left Mogadishu. What is left is a mix of Raxanwayn and Bantu IDPs being exploited by a vile population of hawiye mooryians who moved to the city post 91 to loot. These mooriyans live in bullet-hole ridden, depilated abandoned former government buildings or tinshacks and spend their time raping, robbing, or bombing each other. Nobody takes Mogadishu seriously, 100% of the government work is done in 000000.1% of the city, namely villa somalia and xalane. Everyone knows the locals are savages and works to avoid them.

I disagree. I was in Mogadishu for 3 weeks last year and it is the most developed city of all Somali cities it is far from "shithole" compared to other areas in Somalia. A sh!thole is a place with no running water aka Hargeisa for example where you can't have a shower without the water running out on you from a boyaad.
