It will be done in the future and I know u say this in the interest of the Somali people but the threat is actually real. There have already been cases of Somalis living in Can/USA funding terrorist groups, and yes I know it's a small minority but you need to understand that the government can't afford these risks. It's a blow on their trust from the people and national security...the American government works for the benefits of its people not Somali foreigners.
I don't know there's so many factors that affect this aspect. America isn't the same as it used to be. The political and extremist tensions are rising on all spectrums. Also, back in the day the migrants coming to America were skilled (wether low or high) and 'hard working' in their communities, USA isn't seeing as many anymore + there's already illegals swarming from South America.

Nothing was ever done for Somalis in her district. In fact, it’s been revealed recently that Ilhan tried to persuade a judge to be lenient to several Somali boys who tried to join Al Qaeda. Imagine that. Somalia is in the midst of chaos while America is stable, and a group of Somali men from Minnesota wanted to join a terrorist group and Ilhan found it appropriate to stick up for them! Unlike you, I’ve actually traveled to other countries. I see the fact that in foreign countries, people support a Senator or Parliamentarian because he comes from their tribe, or their ethnic group. There are hundreds of countries, and identity politics even in stable countries like India are vicious and ethnocentric.
America was the exception to that. America is the country where they try to minimize Identity Politics and they have the belief of “judging people by the content of their character not the colour of their skin” although it isn’t always applied. There’s a reason why millions of Whites supported Obama, even though he’s a Black man with an exotic-sounding name. In fact, more Whites voted for Obama than for John Kerry. This wouldn’t happen in a country that is dominated by identity politics.
Looks like you haven't understood how things work in America. Here is a fact that will clarify for you something perhaps you didn't know:
White people are given the benfit of the doubt and are treated individually, hence, when some white dude blows up a mosque or kills american blacks in a church, no one is held responsible except that white dude as an individual. No one asks every white indidivudal what is wrong with white men and their love of violence. That would be viwed as odd and unwarranted.
The opposite is true for blacks and muslims. They are held responsible for what someone identified with them does.
If you react to these social facts and want to avoid being wrongly suspected, you are climing up the wrong tree saxib. Nobody cares if you are innocent. You are guilty by association.
Racial facts are what they are in America. Every nonwhite has to prove their worth and do extra to be trusted.

Ilhan has made Somalis more famous in America. And not in a good way. I have personal stories of friends telling me how they’d get treated roughly by random people because they’re Somali, and how they fear allowing their Somali nieces/daughters to walk around alone.

The reason America was better for minorities in the past is the leadership who emphasized the good parts of the American culture and avoided creating social division along race. The ones who engaged in racial dividisions used to do it subtle ways because they were afraid to be condemned as racist. Trump changed all of that and exposed how half the voting population, namely republicans are truly racist people. And his campaign started with questioning Obama's birth place. Clear racism to question an american citizen's birth place. Trump thus was elected based on Race with the help of russian propaganda, added that he was competing against unpopular candidate.
There is diference between worrying about her gaffes and lack of experience, in essence, she needs to be like a hypocrite and not say what she thinks because that is how politics work in America. I get that. But still, her ideals and the potential good work she can do are immensely important as representative of her disrtict. Should we abondon her because half the american population who love trump and think God sent him want her arrested or sent back to Somalia? They hate her for her ethnicity and religion. I also worry about the scrutiny drawn to the somali community in general. Since when did I reference 9/11 as evidence? Do you understand what an example is, or do I have to explain it to you? I said that Muslims did suffer from bigoted attacks in the 1990’s, but it skyrocketed after 9/11 for the simple reason that many Americans who previously never heard of Muslims were now very aware of it due to 9/11. Just like how most Americans weren’t aware of Somalis (except for a minority of Whites) until Ilhan burst onto the political scene.
