Call me crazy but these women exist, and Somali women have the shortest end of the stick in our community, which is why it’s hard not to scrutinize everything about the guys in the community who try to step up to you bc you realize you kinda have to judge him for his dad to extract what principles he was raised on, not end up like a best friend’s mother who had a runaway husband who it took years to get divorced from bc he refused, and the son she raised who became a pilot and now his father who left him wants to get funded by him for his lifestyle in Africa, and your old Sunday school buddy who’s dad was an absolute bum while her mum worked 3 jobs.

Stable, decent families are dime a dozen, and I understand why my folks controlled contact so much. There is a lot of dysfunction.
