I saw this map on google and wondered why Somalia was seen as an ethnically diverse country by researchers.
imrs.php

I have been in Somalia and almost all people i have seen are all full somali but it's still seen as ethnically diverse by other people. If you look at this map it says that France, UK and Sweden is more ethnically homogeneous than Somalia (which is totally a lie).

What do you guys think is this true or not?

It's garbage. There's no way that Somalia could be considered anywhere near as ethnically diverse as countries like Ethiopia, Kenya, USA, Indonesia, and India. These "researchers" didn't research anything.

Somalis speak one language. Somalis share one religion (Shafi'i, Islam). Somalis have the same culture and tradition. Somalis are ethnically the same people and genetically the same. We're a pretty much homogenous nation, the problem is we Somalis have a clan system which is why they consider us a heterogeneous nation which is obviously stupid of course.

Plus, how is Somalia more heterogeneous than Ethiopia or India? The map is simply shambolic and ludicrous.

Even if we are talking about clans we are still a homogeneous nation, clans won't change the fact that you still are ethnically somali

That is my point but the researchers are intellectually dishonest. I did a research on that a while ago and apparently is because of tribalism. :O27GWRK:

They even put Sweden as a homogeneous country when clearly there are more ethnicity here than in Somalia

The authors of the original map are using different clans in Somalia as a way to justify claiming Somalia is hyper diverse. Probably confusing clans with ethnicity.

"some of the data are very old, dating from as far back as the early 1990s or even late 1980s. Conceptions of ethnicity can change over time; the authors note that this happened in Somalia, where the same people started self-identifying differently after war broke out."

"One thing to keep in mind is that ethnicity might not be static or predetermined. In other words, as in the case of Somalia, maybe worsening economic conditions or war make people more likely to further divide along ethnic fractions"
