Why does Somalia refuse to let Somaliland go?

not really though, each year they are getting more and more countries to recognize them(up to 35 now),on top of that Somaliland is already forging their own diplomatic relations with other countries independent of Somalia

Its not that we hate you. In the west for example there is no difference between us. If i see you getting violated i will protect you. But its the fact that (maybe not you) but many dont even take it seriously. There is no serious apology, no acknowledgement of complicity, no reperation, no compensation, no anything like it didnt matter. Like it was a non event. That we should forget yet we've had to struggle and be third class citizens in the west because of it and see us get violated with no competitive advantage because of our inequity. It was not a choice to move to the west. To see many sisters and brothers getting violated daily. We had to because a complict country made people leave and killed those that didnt. When we see people complian about sisters getting married for half a apple who caused that. It was us putting those women without a country. Putting both their men and the women without their inheritence ( a country they established and ran for thousands of years). What difference are to slaves if without a country? And a country that killed you is a enemy not your own. Responsibility has to be taken and i would for one welcome a united somalia but not before the people of somalia acknowledge and give compensation for the error and treatment. That compensation may be lands, political control or other forms but something is needed. An advantage is needed for the people that were disowned. We cannot accept a united somalia where those that caused this can cause this again ever!

Somalis massacred each other, so many Darood were slaughtered in Mogadishu and yet no Darood has ever separated from somali. Nobody apologised to the mNu darood families who were kicked out by the USC.
On the other hand I'm sure hawiye also have been wronged and nobody apologised to them.
Why is it that somaliland acts like it's the only place that was massacred? And more importantly why do you act as if somalis from somalia massacred you? The siad barre regime was made of many clans including yours.
You elected as president Dahir Riyale Kahin who was head of the secret service in Berbera, the guys job was literally repressing the SNM.

Isaaq had a prime minister (Cigaal) and one guy in the revolutionary councill.
Darood, Isaaqs,Hawiye and Dir all had some degree of power.

The funny thing is that isaaqs had one prime minister and key members in the siad barre government. Siilanyo was a minister during the siad barre era.
Today isaaqs are in the somali parliament and have been ministers of the federal government. And they still say we treat them unequally?

I support the union but the case for independence has nothing to do with your AabbeAfweyne's genocide against Isaaq. Its mostly about the UNRATIFIED 1960 Law of Union, passed by the North. We are STILL wating for the South to ratify Somaliland's 1960 Law of Union. No law of union means no union

No problem giving Isaaq independence within their clan borders. other clans will not be included, but Isaaq can take their territories with them.

@AarHawd_7 Having Isaaq, and probably Gadabursi, form their own country would be great for Darood. If Isaaq were smart they would come to the negotiation table with Gadabursi as Dir Woqoyie. You can have an independent Dir state, or you can continue to claim Darood land and remain unrecognized. Your choice.

1. No state on earth will willingly give up territory
2. The territory is of major strategic value as it links with the Bab el Mandeb strait, Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and up to the Suez Canal. One of the most important geopolitical points on Earth
3. There is no basis for the claim of independence
4. There is no full agreement within the claimed territory itself. See other non-issaq clans and Pro union Isaaqs are jailed regularly

a few facts other may have been clouded by his Daaroodist fantasies

1. RSL and MaheerteeniyaState are already seperate and independent. The difference is one of those states seeks recognition of that independence and seperation

2. There is no such thing as Northern Dir. Ciise and Gadabiirsi dont see Isaaq as Dir and vice versa. Dir and Isaaq are different from Jabarti clans, which have such wildly different abtirsi lenghts, it makes you wonder who is the Asal Jabarti and who is the SooRaac Jabarti

Hopefully there will be reunification and it will be on the terms of the 1960SomalilandParliaments's Law of Union. Definetely not on Daaroodist fantasies that probably dont even represent Dhulos/Warsans sentiments
