Siyad Barre was zero sum game. He had no future planned, no election to path the country to peaceful transition. Abdirashid was promising but was his life was cut short. HSM is Hawiye president. A.Yusuf is the reason we have recovered post-civil war, but his term was tainted by Ethoipian invasion. Farmajo hasn't acheived much in his term. That leaves Adan Adde as the only president that was chosen by peoples votes and gave power voluntarily

the guy ruled for 21 years and our economy only raised by 200 million and he also mascaraed innocent isaaqs, the only thing he was good at was military even tho most of it were given to him by the soviet union

Did Somali presidents prior the coup actually had the same executive powers the current ones have or was it a parliamentarian state with much of the power in the hands of the cabinet and members of the parliament 🤔

So yeah he might be bad in your perspective.
However how do you rate the ones of today?

Siad barre was a military guy obviously he will invest more in defense.

Afweyne was qabilist not a military smart man because of his qabyaled policy is why Somalis in the region are in this situation I have no problem of him being a dictator but he wasn't the man who could keep the people united.

Barre built ports, roads, factories , electrical plants education programs schooling vocational training. There was contracts in place for bardheere dam and refinery as well. together both proejcts would have been over billion in todays dollars. Barre was face but there was many Somalis from many clans that made this possible and a lot of cooperation

Somalia was one nation no FMSs.freedom of movement many people moved to xamar for education ,business and jobs and if you didn’t live there you were seen as country redneck. salute to abgal for hosting Somali Wayne to bad we shit on city. Isaaq also sacrificed alot joining country even though they regretted it and tried to withdraw way before barre

To be honest every Somali president pre Siyaad were good and democratic. They gave their seat up like civilised people.

the 60's era is overrated in my opinion. Even if the presidents were decent, the parliament and government overall were a total shitshow in which hundreds of different tribal parties and interest groups fought eachother and brought the country to the brink of collapse. This is why most people in 69 supported the coup of the army. Somalia was doomed from the start it seems:francis:
