What group is the nearest genetically almost identical? Is it afar, habasha or Oromo.

If im not mistaken, it is the Oromo and the Beja of Sudan. As well as the Afar to a certain extent.

For now Oromos. If the stars align for the day a Rendile from one of non ariaal clans takes a DNA test they'd most likely be the closest group to us.

We aren’t particularly close to Beja people, people think this because they speak a Cushitic language and practise a nomadic camel herding lifestyle like Somalis traditionally do but overall we’re a lot closer to Oromos

This section focuses on languages, particularly Afsoomaali. For genetic and other cultural topics, please navigate to the Culture and History section.

Note
There are no genetic studies in Africa. Most of the studies that have already come out are considered to be unreliable. African countries lack the financial resources to study their history and people. Asking questions like this will only result in baseless opinions, as everyone wants to relate to “cool guys”.

Rendille of course. They trace their lineage to Ajuuraan so can you really say that they are another ethnic group though?

Waryah @Danakiil stop trolling man. If we're talking about language the closest cushitic group to us somalis are fellow somaloid speaking groups such as baiso arbore daasanach etc.
Do you know that the numbers in the Cushitic languages are closest to the original language (Afroasiatic languages) and that the numbers in the Semitic languages are a modification of the Cushitic numbers?

In the Somali language, the number six is ( Lix لِحْ ) , while in the Hebrew language it is שֵׁשׁ ( shésh شِشْ )
and in the Arabic language, the number six is سِتَّة ( sitta ) from the triliteral root س د س ( s-d-s ) .

Compare : L-X ( Lix لِحْ ) , sh-sh ( שֵׁשׁ shésh شِشْ ) , s-d-s ( سدس ) .
L-X / sh-shs-d-s
Lix lixda → sds → sitta

lxd
( lixda ) → sds
لِحْ
شِشْ سدس
لِحْ ← لِحْدَ ← سدس ← سِتَة

Which is closest to the Afro-Asian mother tongue ?

It's not easy to say honestly, the afro-asiatic language family are said by some to go as far back as 20 000 years. Some stuff are easy to discern but others needs some effort. For example if we're talking about numbers i can think of مثنى mathna meaning pair and somali mataane meaning twin. A less obvious one could also be حد/احد/واحد meaning one and somail hal. I think we need to look at proto cushitic first and make our way to proto afro-asiatic.

This image although outdated and isn't a 100% accurate specially on the somali side still shows similarities between various cushitic language family and their names for numbers.
