It's gone so far that even (former) farmers are today dependent on imports. Successive droughts, alongside gov't negligence and shady NGOs have drastically reduced our agricultural outputs, year after year. Even AS presence/occupation has greatly affected many farming communities.

Just think about it; your people have been single handedly been affected the worst by being forced to urbanize due to external factors to larger cities. Over the years, these farming people adopt to urban life and loose some of their farming skills and will likely have an impact if they go back to their farmland one day. The gov't need to take these issues more seriously.

Those NGO's looking to buy that agricultural land, gov is probably in on it.

This is crazy. Mangoes from Egypt being sold in Xamar. They are being sold for $2 while the ones grown in Somalia are sold for $1 half the price.

Why would people be importing mangoes when you can get mangoes locally from Afgooye. It's like these people want to destroy Somalia economically.

Why import something you can grow locally.

You misunderstood the post about the prices. The Egyptian ones cost 2$ each whereas Somali ones cost 1$ for 10 pieces. It’s not half the price.

Somali farmers should get protection against foreign competition food security is important. But there should also be balance to ensure there is enough food in case farmers can’t meet production. Weird issue I still don’t understand why it’s happening

You hit the nail on the head under MSB AUN, all Somalis had access to free health care, free water and free educatikn and free education. We were supporting even Ogadenia refugees thats how extensive our social net system was.

Before the war gdp per capita person was the same as it is now. Our population has grown and the gdp with it but the country is still poor. It’s hasn’t gotten better or worse. Though we are in a worse position now.

Mashallah god bless all the Somalis returning home and opening suuq, however there’s is still little opportunity for a Somali citizen in their own country. There was an Al Jazeera video showing Mogadishu urbanizing and the rent was like that of western countries. When there is no such salary to pay that rent in any Somali profession apart from politician.
