The bigger concern is if Farmaajo refuses to leave peacefully and the opposition have a parallel election and elect a new President of their own.
But the law says Farmaajo is president untill we vote for a knew one.
The International community won't support anyone other than farmaajo

how can one be reelected without an election?
No significant change will occur if you recognize it or not, heck it doesn't change a thing, your already acting like a sovereign nation under the guise of "Federalism", so what difference is your input? Heck, Dhuso 3 was just plain forced formality for a already known fact. Sept 17 agreement is still in play. Tick TokYour boy had an opportunity to get his extension and failed. If Puntland’s input didn’t matter Farmaajo would not have spent 3 days in Dhuuso mareeb trying to get a last minute extension. There is no agreement and his term ends in 2 hours whether elections are held tomorrow or not. If there is no election there will be a caretaker government led by the speaker until Somalia is deemed ready. Puntland and Jubbaland will not recognize Farmaajo as President of Somalia after midnight and neither will the HAG opposition. Tick tock.
To be honest the IC supports anyone who has actual power. If farmaajo takes over the country and becomes a dictator they will recognize him as long as he has some power. Same thing for a parallel election, the IC would support another president who has actual power no matter who elected him. They don't really care about laws and democracy.

The Gedo issue is all about clan. President Madobe stated Farmaajo spoke to him about the Gedo issue in Dhuusomareeb as a Reer Dini man. Farmaajo sees it as qabil issue. He wants Reer Dini hegemony over Gedo and a special status for Gedo because he couldn’t dislodge President Madobe and replace him with one of his Reer Dini cousins.
