I do agree with shaykh ruhayli that it depends on the situation. In some cases it might be better for a man to marry more wives(many unmarried women in society like now just to name an example) and in some cases it may be better to not do so (it is natural for a woman to get jealous and if you cannot please them both perhaps its better to stay monogamous)

I do also see the wisdom in the opinion that it is better to marry more women, as it is a fact that the words of Allah in chapter 4 do start with 2 and that marrying one is mentioned when one cannot uphold justice.

Therefore if it hurt fatima, a fellow woman then polygny should overall be avoided to prevent the heartbreak of women and the fitna of divorce. Women have every right to refuse sharing their husband. Also the financial pinch is no joke, if the husband takes another wife much less 4 wives, the finances and lifestyle will be of less quality. In these times all I see is cons not pros
