Ethiopia is set to become the 9th member state of East Africa Community

Ethiopia is set to become the 9th member state of East Africa Community (EAC), just a few months after Somali’s admission to the bloc.

This was disclosed by Peninah Malonza, the Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of EAC, Arid and Semi-arid Lands and Regional Development.

Speaking while leading a relief food distribution drive in Kitui Central Constituency, Malonza announced that talks between Ethiopia and EAC Summit Heads of states are in the last stages and soon Ethiopia will be part of the bloc.
Aside from Ethiopia’s admission, the EAC partner states also seeks to harmonize critical policies and put in place requisite institutions to attain a single currency for the region by the end of this year as outlined in the EAC Monetary Union Protocol.

East African Community (EAC) is a regional intergovernmental organisation of eight (8) Partner States, comprising the Republic of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of South Sudan, the Republic of Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania, with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

Ethiopia won.

According to the EAC: Partner States can use each other's seaports, airfields, land based facilities and military facilities for training, refuelling, and other acceptable military reasons.

Sincerity is a dangerous thing.
These Ethiopians really do love us. Stay tuned they will soon join the Arab league and Oraganisation of Islamic Countries.

Ethiopia is the biggest market in east Africa they have a lot to benefit. Will Djibouti become the 10th member? But this basically like ECOWAS a western controlled block that makes sure no one steps out of line.

Ethiopia, Somalia, Rwanda reclaiming southern Cushitic lands.

It looks to be the case, this might be good for the region for stability, but a shared currency this early isn't going to be successful, free transport of goods, business visa and focus on developing infrastructure would be great.

Its been mentioned before but Somalia is too poor and inept to have any sort of sway in the EAC. It would be troublesome enough to deal with a flood of cheap goods into our markets but with Ethiopia in the fray who's sole mission is to keep Somalia down, it just makes the decision to join the EAC even more rushed.

african politics is childish as f*ck, but dont be surprised these ppl were brought up on the idea that the cadaan man is closer to jesus than they are.

These African countries are too coward and weak to free themselves from Europeans, shameful people. The only way Africans will get anywhere is if we change these artificial fake borders and each nation is bordered by tribe united by a confederacy.

If this happens then that render the whole illegal MOU thing with Somaliland pointless if they can use Kenya and Somalia.

Somalilland is the loser #1
Somalia is the loser #2

Are we going to pretend that Ethiopians are not using our ports' as we speak right now?
They use mogadishu port and berbera. It’s that this port will be made for their use militarily, have you no sense of shame? I certainly do. and there’s no pushback from Somalia. So Hassan could have agreed with them in Kenya to do this as long as they helped during election.
