Alternate Somalia with or without Siyaad Barre

1. Somalia not being in Arab league (useless)
2. Choosing the Osmanya alphabet instead of Latin
3. Banning foreign foreign islamic institutes and organisations from countries like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan
4. No Ogaden war but long term insurgency in Ogaden
5. Industrialisation & tourism is heaviy promoted
6. Somali diaspora would still exist
7. No salafism cancer
8. Somali nationalism would be similar to Turkey in terms of being proud
9. Peace and love amongst Soomaalida
10. Ethiopia and Kenya would be shaking today seeing a strong Soomaaliya

If the stupid coup of 1969 had not occurred, everything would have been better because leaders would have been elected by the people through One Person One Vote rather than this nonsense we have today, and all 18 regions would have been united there would've been no genocide no Jabhads nothing would've happened everything would've been perfect but it was ruined by siad barre with the help of soviets and brought communism which further ruined the economy.

Somali Republic would have joined the Arab league as it was popular idea among the intellectuals or the ruling politicians it's just that it wasn't priority for SYL but Somalia was eligible for joining the organization as not any country or nation can just be in it.

Don't forget to add people wouldn't have hated eachother based on your clan or where you come from.

Siyad barre prevented civil war in 1969. If he didn't take power somalia would have been a failed state from 1969. One can argue that is was a failed state before siyad barre.

Exactly. It was thanks to Siad Barre that Somalia became strong and feared in the first place. Before Siad Barre, Somalia was a fragile republic with a weak army that was on the edge of collapse.

Fragile or not, in 1964 they held their grounds.

It would have been better to have a civil war in 1969 rather than 1991

Elaborate
Fairly straightforward no? More time to recover, less likely for religion to be injected into the conflict as most the arab world was still in it's nationalist phase, etc. Plenty of African countries had civil wars in the time like Nigeria and it was solved fairly swiftly.
