Ceynte is running this time. Well educated. USA citizen. He is a heavyweight that will surprise us.

His credentials are top notch. Aynte was the founder and Executive Director of the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS), the first think tank in Somalia.

These types never get far. Somalias elections arent based on qualifications. They rarely even pick ministers based on qualifications nowadays.

The next election of Somalia is crucial to the state building process of the country.

The world is getting tired of our shenanigans and endless issues. In your own honest opinion, who do you think is the best man for the job?!
One of these five men will likely be crowned the President of Somalia in the upcoming elections. Who's your pick?!
Ali Kheyre/Deni
Deni/Ali Kheyre or Sheikh Sharif.

No offense, but there's only onw person who should never become president and that's ahmed madobe. Even if we ignore his connections with ethiopia and Kenya. The fact that he's a warlord who's been controlling jubbaland for 15+ years and yet jubbland which is the more fertile region, is the poorest by far. That alone shows his incompetence.

You're right, but at the same time he is the one with the most credentials amongst current leaders in this corrupt system.

Was Axmed Madobe a warlord? I thought he was part of the al-itixaad movement, and then the ICU and then the leader of Raskamboni movement. And then he became the president of Jubbaland thanks to allying with Kenyans to take Kismayo from AS?

He may be a dodgy fella for striking deals with Kenya and Ethiopia to get into power, but he strikes me as a man who can lead. A man who knows and understands Somali politics, both the government side and the jihadi movement side. He has been through a lot of battles, and understands guerilla warfare and the Somali political landscape. He may be constrained in Kismayo, but as a president of Somali I think he would surprise many people and defeat AS.

Btw people need to stop wanting their uncle only to be on the kursi. This political stalemate and lack of foresight is what hampers Somalis.

For example, people are complaining about Madobe for not consolidating power in Jubbaland, but don't realise he is facing the same problems other Somali leaders face in different regions or even the leader of the country faces in Xamar. Everyone wants their qabiil to be on the chair!

For example, Jubbaland just confuses me. Why are Marexaan and Ogadeen opposition? Wouldn't it be better for the state of Jubbaland if the above two qabiils worked together? Is it a must that Mareexan must have Kismayo and rule Jubbaland as its leader? Why not just work with your fellow Somali and Darood brothers in building a strong state? If circumstances have made Madobe and Ogadeen the holders of Kismayo and its state, then shouldn't Mareexan just reconcile with that fact and become the vice president of Jubbaland and become a partnering force in bringing out the full potential of the bread basket of Somalia? Ogadeen and Marexaan together could take out AS from the Jubbas, make Kismayo a great port city, build high yield farms for local and international export, build a road from Kismayo to Luuq which then transports good to NFD in Kenya and Southern Ethiopia through Doolow.

Madoobes had far greater success in combatting AS then the FGS. The JL forces are significantly superior to the SNA, that was an unpopular opinion but after Ras Kamboni it became standard.

He is also the only leader in Somalia who has been consistently anti-ethiopia.
I thought being the president of Somalia was akin to being the mayor of Mogadishu, why would anyone want to leave their current position for that.
Xamar is shared the states arent :trumpsmirk:

Same goes for this competition for the Kursi between Hawiye and Darood. Its another stalemate and one that is blocking the country from moving forward.

Just make Benaadir another state for Hawiye. And then Hawiye has 3 states. Galmudug, HirShabelle, Banaadir. Hawiye have the capital. So how can we give confidence to Darood that the Somali centralised state isn't orchestrated for Hawiye benefit? Just let them have the presidency and let Hawiye have the prime minister spot.

I'm telling you, the confrontation and blocks and checks the SFG gov has been facing for the last twenty years would dissipate. Puntland and Jubbaland would have less fears, and would work with the SFG central gov.

But who is going to make the sacrifice or take a step back in our current situation? Most fellow Hawiye would think I'm crazy, but how long can we be stuck in this situation? Something has to give for us to trust each other again. Would you rather a country where only Hawiye rule Xamar and parts of the South or a country where we work with our fellow Somali brothers Darood and build a great country for all of us again?

Edit

And if anyone asks what checks and balances Hawiye have in giving the presidency to Darood? Well like I mentioned we have the biggest population from central Somalia to Xamar with regional states and also would have the Prime minister seat. We have enough power without the presidency to balance the power of things.

No, honestly it’s not. I just think Madobe is far too dangerous. He’s relatively isolated in Kismayo now, but letting him even think he can run would be disastrous.

True, true. Madobe ain't playing. But I don't believe in this 4 year nonsense. Let a president rule for life or for 10 year terms.

Anyways, enough madobe love for one day before I get called out as an undercover OG.

People who are advocating for Madoobe to be considered for the presidency astound me tbh.

  • The guy has failed to unite the people of Jubaland, how the hell would he unite all Somali people?!
  • He failed to liberate his State from AS for 15 years, the entire region of Middle Jubba is controlled by AS, that's an embarrassment to his rule and the entirety of Jubaland.
  • No substantive development projects in 15 years. Nothing to show for it.
  • He doesn't allow his opposition to come and express their politics freely in Kismayo, people don't talk about his rule in Kismayo because they're fearful for their lives, how can we trust an individual like that?!
  • He doesn't have any forward thinking political ideas that might save this nation. His only aspiration is to keep his seat indefinitely. A local dictator with zero ambitions.

HSM is worse than Madoobe, but still Madoobe needs to be dealt with post the FGS election.
