That's wild but I honestly believe they already have tech that reads minds, for example, how can they place ad's on facebook or elsewhere, about things people thought about but NEVER mentioned or said outloud? Stuff that makes you think hmmmm...

This tech is quite interesting but it is pretty limited in scope of usage.
First, this AI needs to be trained for each individual person. You need to get people to look at images and simultaneously take MRI scans of that person's brain to get images of a person's brain activity. Then, using such image/scan combinations you'd train an AI on such dataset. Then, the AI can predict what images you are looking at given images of an MRI brain scan.
Unless your being held captive forced to look at images and get brain scans done before being under constant brain scans to see what you are thinking about/looking at, this has no impact on a person's life. There's no way for someone to just do an MRI scan of you unless your literally in a MRI machine in a hospital, and this AI needs to be trained for each individual since different human brains will react differently in terms of brain activity even to the same image.
