You ever realise how hateful the internet makes you?

It's amazing when you think about it. I wasn't as hateful as I am before I started using internet forums. If I take a break it goes away but then it comes back after a while. I seem nationalistic and write racist shit against Ethiopians occasionally but I don't even hate them. They're all cool and generally nice people.

I'll end up writing some racist shit about cadaan people but I don't actually hate them either. Most are honestly normal and decent people.

thing is it gets worse when I converse with certain people, I didn't even know I was this susceptible to external influences. Sometimes it gets so so bad I look at my posts in disgust.

@Yukon_Niner Much better than the hate mainstream TV media gave you before the internet. At least this hate is consciously selected by users themselves than forced to you by the elites (*cough cough ''War on Terror'' / Iraq War cough cough*).

I agree, i wasn't that hateful before joining social media platforms like discord, though at the same time i have gained a lot of knowledge about things so its kinda like you win some you lose some

Before internet became mainstream, the TV used to push hate. Same thing, just less democratic (not chosen by the user).

I personally met a few irl and talked to a lot online and the vast majority were nice people. i think the hatred comes from ideologies that certain people from those groups have (and obvious historic reasons)
the average person isn't responsible for the ill will that we have towards them its their gov/army and the various liberation movements that have been behind killings of somalis in gaalbeed and in somalia

I don't hate anyone , there are certain entities that I'm disgusted with, my distate of their ignoble, disgusting and horrendous acts took me to extreme measures of precautions hence I do not display any hostility whilst interacting with certain groups of people .

I am very observant of my surroundings , thus I do not want to participate in ethnic wars, but as you've said the internet can alter one's perception.

The difficulty of believing social media platforms and various news outlets, wether they are validly true or are falsified depictions /particular stereotypes to fit their narratives , benefits the cooperation, they know the masses are not only vulnerable but also gullible to a larger extent, hence instilling hatred is an advantage as long as they have subordinate vessels AKA influencers to be pawns of the divide and conquer tactics .

If I was you , I would read everything thoroughly, fact check and not let my emotions and rational fear get the best of me. Immediate reaction is dangerous and we Somalis have this problem already, actually I would estimate that 90% of broadcasting companies that work with Somali based medias are suitable for propagandas, using inaccurate measures of corresponding , endorsing and in favourable of particular group and disconcerting others, it led to thousands of fake channels appearing on the surface , years ago it was Universal TV or HCTV but to the present day we have dozens of stations and we may never know their intentions but we do acknowledge there are those whose ulterior motives aren't so genuine.

Like Ive said earlier it's best to find the original source instead of immediately liking or retweeting

Take everything into consideration and a pinch of salt

I always laugh how people act like xoolos on this site and then when it's time to leave they ask for cafis(forgiveness). Nahh, I'll never forgive you, see you on Qiyamah, moron. :icon lol: z3zrULC
I don't understand why you would put yourself in a position where you have to beg others to forgive you? My pride just wouldn't allow it.

Do you know how many times the prophet SAW talked about the evils of the tongue? The mother of all troubles is your tongue(or in this case, your fingers).

I used to be the most extroverted outgoing person ever, and now I can't even speak without thinking beforehand.:ileycry: There's nothing painful than an extrovert being forced to be an introvert.

As Muslims we should be aware of our actions at all times, both online and offline. Just because you're anonymous it doesn't mean the angels on your shoulders will let you off the hook.
I always think through before I click the send button. "Will this post bite me in the back in the afterlife?" If yes, it never leaves the draft.:noneck:

I have been observing the Somali community online since the mid 00s. Paltalk, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Topix, somnet, Somalispot, etc, you name it.

The internet can be a good tool if you use it in the right way, but for most Somalis it seems to be the opposite. Most Somali parents themselves are bigoted as hell, so I'm not surprised that the younger generation turned out this way. They were never taught to be responsible for their actions,, wax kasta waa u fasax, fantashiru fil ardi :icon lol::icon lol:

They way Somalis behave both online and IRL used to tick me off so badly(still kinda does) but now I don't really care as much. I have worse things to worry about—like my akhiro and the constant fitna. I'm just gonna hold out for another 5 years and then I'll take the first flight to Somalia. And from the there I'm gonna plan out how to live in reclusion. By the time I'm 40, I'll be a full-blown anchoress.

It brings the worst in people. The real you emerges when you’re anonymous
I don't think this is true, the real you can't be exposed when you're talking to a computer screen. You're missing an important part of humans which is intimacy and intimacy affects how we behave

Turn that wifi/data off sxb. You shouldn't be on that internet if it changes who you are or changes your behavior/personality.
These topics are silly man lol
