Also, I'm learning Arabic. I'd say I'm low level conversational. I can understand some native content and I try to improve by watching Arabic YouTube, social media etc. The amount of racism towards Africans is shocking, online Somalis look like angels in comparison. When it comes to Somalia there's deep ignorance on the country and often times attempts to hijack Somali history. This Somali tiktoker who highlighted this yemeni dude does an amazing job but it happened to me as well to bump into clearly false fabricated Arabic language content on Somalia. At the same time in Arabic speaking social media especially north African (including Egypt) there's an obsession with afrocentrism, anti black immigrants sentiment etc
I encourage every Somali to learn Arabic , it really opens your mind

I don’t think restricting access to any one group of people will solve the root cause of this. Things are worse in Libya today but people forget how brutal Gheddafi was with black immigrants. Gheddafi even invaded Chad in the 80s and stripped the black Libyans (Toubou people) of their citizenship because he accused them of being pro Chad. There are a few other places other than SL in the Somali peninsula where a Somali fleeing war would be rejected and Arabs allowed in. You guys love this fence sitting “all Somalis do this”, but that is not the reality when you travel across Somalia. You literally have many interviews where the locals were openly saying that Ethiopians were closer to them than other Somalis. Again, this kind of sentiment is very hard to find amongst other Somalis.

That's true but the average Yemeni tends to have darker skin. A lot of this comes down to the Arab vs non Arab mindset there's a lot of internalized racism even against other Arabs like you said and especially towards non Arabs like Somalis. That’s why things like skin whitening creams are so common there
