First of all I don’t condone his comments but he’s a man that has already left the country there’s not much to say. Second, it doesn’t matter if someone comes from a worse country, if a Somali man went to India and said the same things people would have different responses on here. I believe all immigrants should be treated well and with human dignity. Having said this as Somalis we have a clear tier list of immigrants and behavior towards them changes according to nationality.
If this man was Oromo and said this the reaction would be 10X harsher. There are Oromos who get heat without actually doing anything wrong.Arabs in Somalia get preferential treatment compared to Oromos who are pretty much our cousins or other African nationalities. Also, I'm learning Arabic. I'd say I'm low level conversational. I can understand some native content and I try to improve by watching Arabic YouTube, social media etc. The amount of racism towards Africans is shocking, online Somalis look like angels in comparison. When it comes to Somalia there's deep ignorance on the country and often times attempts to hijack Somali history. This Somali tiktoker who highlighted this yemeni dude does an amazing job but it happened to me as well to bump into clearly false fabricated Arabic language content on Somalia. At the same time in Arabic speaking social media especially north African (including Egypt) there's an obsession with afrocentrism, anti black immigrants sentiment etc
I encourage every Somali to learn Arabic , it really opens your mind
