Reminds me of when I went to Bulgaria with a white colleague. I went through the security with ease and when it was his turn, they questioned him for some time. Afterwards this officer comes from one of the rooms with a portable metal detector. He had to step aside and spread his arms while standing wide. He was facing me while he was being frisked. He was probably thinking what an upside world, a black muslim is watching me, a white guy, being humiliated.

He was furious, and I gave him a typical white answer: better safe than sory. I never felt so white.

Why you making like Somalis got no jobs? There are many who work in the airport too and It's not her first time too. I don't know if you live in Uk, but here in America, almost every Somali is working, so I still don't get why you're hurt by this.

Bulgaria? If you don't mind me asking, did you face any racism there? I'm probably going to study there so was just curious.

I've seen quite alot of somalis at Birmingham airport both men and female they let us through quickly and helped us only get our bags. Somalinimo

Racism no, but I was harassed by gypsies. One time in a mall a group of gypsy kids surrounded me, majority was begging me for money while teo tried to pick my pockets. This also happened in Serbia.

Ah, I guess that's why people tend to dislike gypsies. I'll likely be in Sofia, so was that where you stayed and if so, how's living there like?

I went there actually twice. Once for work, and once during my uni days. During uni days, it was part of a mini east european tour. Never stayed there longer than two nights. Nice architecture, I like the high ceiling. You should try their lentil soup. The restaurants and hotels were cheap.

Sofia is quite empty for a large city. We are really judgemental, we already have an opinion before we even go there. The bulgarians you see in west europe, are not the stereotype bulgarians. The ones we see are the gypsies and the rural area bulgarians. You'll most likely interact with the middle to higher income ones. Bulgaria is surrounding by many countries, so irs easier to travel as well. You should take the bus to Serbia and then travel to Sarajevo, very beautiful location. You can take a night train to Istanbul. Overall nice experiences
