At its foundation, the party had 13 members: four muuse subeer samaroon , four habar muuse two Reer Xamar, two hawiye and one daarood

those clan were the clans of the founders of SYL,majeertania was a part of somalia and competent president like sharmarke were ok but to say mj created somalia is a joke

4 Samaroon members of the SYL? Someone has been running a train wreck on Wikipedia :lolbron:

SYL was founded by 13 men with the majority of them coming from the Banadiri community actually. It only became popular and accepted when Abdullahi Issa ran the show. He took the case to the UN and to the rest of the World.

Ofcourse, it's not a suprise that many supporters were from the Darod, they saw it as the only party to grant them a living in Mogadishu as it was pro centralism and pro Somaliweyn. Raxanweyn casted their votes for the HDSM which was pro federalism and Hawiyah votes were split between SYL (led by Abdullahi Issa), SANU (led by Edmundo an Cayr politician AUN) and the Liberal Party founded by Xaaji Baraako, who almost won the Mogadishu seat but lost by a narrow margin to another Abgaal.

But all was well, we were the powerful inner circle that ran the show. Sacad alone had 2 members in the 15 member SYL central committee as well as the Party Chairman and Vice Chairman and the UN Representative (Xaaji Faarax). There is a reason they called us Governo Sacad. We lead, the rest follow.:salute:

Even after Independence, the country was still in good hands and honest leadership, 1961 literally saw two men from Beledweyne compete for the Presidency :banderas:

Unfortunately, corruption became rife after the '67 elections and didn't stop until 1991. I'll let you figure out why.

Mr Habar Gidir.

Let's talk about HALAL wealth.

BEFORE 1991.. Not all the conveniently wealthy HG who came out of nowhere after the nation was looted. :gaasdrink:

I have even heard of normal HG people saying they don't eat at certain HG houses because they are known to have stolen money. That's how widespread the "reputation" is, you are even scaring each other with your antics.

We had our eggs in both baskets for the 56 election. HDM got 18 seats and we also had 7 SYL seats. So out of the 60 total seats, 25 we're Digil&Mirifle.

By the late 50s, a lot of our leading political figures died under suspicious circumstances, most likely the Italians got them killed cuz they didn't like the idea of federalism that we were advocating for

You cannot name one HG person who was wealthy after 1991 who wasn't wealthy beforehand :draketf:

Just because men like Seeraar and Goobaanle were running the Kismaayo Inc at the expense of your SSDF militia being driven out, they weren't even top 30 HG businessmen. There was no "halal wealth" before 1991 because the country was under a communist dictatorship, everything was made government property.

That being said, HG was and is a known business community. We owned farms, hotels and cinemas in Mogadishu, Merca, Beledweyne etc before the country was even independent. Hell even the first Somali shilling was printed by a Sacad man. And it was a Sacad man (Ina Guure Maamuun) who oversaw the birth of free trade in Somalia :draketf:

Raxanweyn were a force to be reckoned with. A lot of intra Raxanweyn double dealing with the SYL didn't allow them to unite with one voice. But i heard Zoobe AUN was a visionary Raxanweyn politician, he gave them access to the Central Bank and many positions. They tended to be the deciding voters in the Hawiye-Darod stalemates. The last President overthrown in 1969 was a Leysaan politician i believe.

That's very true man, our unity was very poor back then. Even the RRA days, when we finished with you know who, we turned on our selves. A couple years before that even, when we declared a sort of breakaway state, some Eelay went to Aideed to complain about what we were doing and they gave the green light for him to come and occupy Baidoa for the second time. It was a poor move from them cuz after aideed left, eelay got a booting from all the other clans, boy did they get annihilated :whew:

I believe Zoobe AUN was our only minister in the early 60s. He was from my clan, beesha Boqol Hore. Sheikh Mukhtar AUN, the interim President and speaker of the House, was Hadame who are one a few Mirifle clans who reside in one gobol only, in this case Bakool. He wanted the military to mediate, not fucking take over.

@Balaayo

Off topic but how many clans in D&M are non ethnic Somalis? Do Asharaaf and Bantus claim to be D&M? Are there for instance Arabs and Bantus who are integrated/intermarried within your group?

Also, what's the difference between Rahanweyn and D&M.

It's more like the new world blacks, even tho they carry the qabil name, it doesn't mean they're asli. An AA can have the name Johnson but it doesn't make him Scottish.

Not all clans have Bantu, it's mainly the Digil clans and some Mirifle. We don't marry them at all, that's a line you don't cross, Somali for Somali, B0on for B0on. They're looked down upon so much it's crazy, why would anyone marry in to them and get treated like shit by the family members. Remember that Bantu guy who guy burned in Mogadishu for marrying that hawiye girl? We have the same mentality as that.

@Mckenzie tell this girl reer koonfur don't even marry nuh mahamud and she thinks Madow is acceptable :drakelaugh:

Arabs and ashraaf is a different matter, they don't have our qabil names but we marry with them. The reason Bantu need our qabil names is because they need that qabils protection, they would get bullied otherwise, look at what happened to the Madow of Middle Shabelle.

Mirifle is a sub clan of Reewin which is a sub clan of Digil. Mirifle is the most dominant clan so it needs to be in the name. It's like saying MJ&Darood

Nuh Mahamoud and Madhibaan/Tumaal are all ethnic Somalis so no need to look down or mistreat them or even Bantus for that matter.

I just want to know what's going on with Bantus in South Somalia who are claiming Somali lineages falsely and hiding under D&M.

Do Bantus claim it socially or do they get away with it politically also? As in, are there MPs and Ministers who claim D&M but are Bantus?

Finally, do Somali Bantus fall under D&M politically or 0.5?

The reason I ask is because I see a trend of Bantus trying to claim they are the true natives of Somalia, seems like they have expansionist and revisionist beliefs.

how is a hyutu trying to claim SYL:yloezpe:

stop embarrassing yourself majority of yall wanted extended Italian rule I already posted historic thread about it.

It's basically the same as MJ Madows, they have the qabil name, they're treated alright but you don't marry them.

They claim it politically, socially, the fucking lot. The current President of KG is BO0n on both sides, his dad is Hairn Madow and his mum is B0onti Marehan. Some MPs are Madow just like you have hawiye Madow, daarod Madow, it's the same thing

Politically they are classed as one of us, not 0.5, that's for reer xamar and the juba Madows.

Same as in Arab countries then, they adopted the names and claim it for relevance.

You are posting an excerpt without proper historical context. It is talking about the Hawiyah in Mogadishu, which as i mentioned in my last comment, had votes split with Xaaji Baraako an Abgaal man who was bitter after a personal feud with his fellow Abgaal counterpart in the SYL.

The Hawiya who favoured the Italians are no different to the Darod who favoured the Brits in the 40s, they all had their own grievances and reasons. But at the end of the day, SYL showed moderate cooperation with the Italians which led to a purge of most of your politicians from the party, including Muuse Boqor :icon e wink: that tells you whose influence carried the day.

Not just Mogadishu, Jowhar has founded and built by an Italian man, shabelle river was developed the them likewise Xamar. Mostly the abgaals wanted extended rule, 30 fricking years smh. Regarding SYL it was dominated by certain people there is no denying that, you playing a role later wonΓ€t change anything.

Abgaal are laandheer, they had 2 local parties solely belonging to them and looked out for their own interest. I don't blame them for having their fingers in a lot of pies. They saw Xamar as their goof and didn't see the appeal of all Somalis moving into their town under 1 regime which the SYL proposed. But for the sake of Somalinimo they conceded and still voted for the SYL.

Learn the difference between membership and leadership. You supported the SYL because it gave you hope in moving away from the hot deserts of Bari. Just like the majority members and supporters of the UK Labour Party are foreigners who fear Brexit but who leads it? A white man from Wiltshire. Who forms the main council committee? White men. When we ran the SYL, we binned the Osmaniya script, we made peace with the Italians and locked up your most vocal leading politicians. We destroyed the Xariifo system that freed minority clans from your economic oppression on them in Kismaayo and we delivered independence to the South. :icon e wink:
