That isn't remotely true. Koonfur literally had a 30+ year rebellion mirroring that of the Dervish against the Italians and engaged in all sorts of guerilla warfare and assassinations against Italians. Men like Sheikh Hassan Barsame were fighting all the way until the 1920s.
